Overview:We're looking for a dynamic leader to join our Housekeeping Team as the Laundry Manager!
In this role, you would be responsible for overseeing the hotel's in-house laundry operation and assist with housekeeping management duties as needed. You'll report directly to the Director of Housekeeping, and manage a team of 30-40 consisting of 2 Supervisors, Attendants, a Uniforms Team, Seamstress, and Drivers.
As a Laundry Manager, you would be responsible for for planning, supervising and evaluating the Laundry and Valet function of the resort to maximize profitability and productivity and to improve standards of quality and guest service. Specifically, this includes, but is not limited to, the following duties:
- Supervise the timely pickup, cleaning, pressing, and delivery of hotel linen and uniforms, and guest clothing to meet business plan goals and objectives. Ensure that quality standards are achieved in production and presentation of all garments.
- Maintain adequate supply of clean linen for guest rooms, Spa and F&B outlets by monitoring inventory levels, anticipating demands, controlling production, and maintaining necessary chemicals and supplies. Conduct monthly linen inventories to maintain par stock levels.
- Supervise and support staff engaged in cleaning, pressing and delivery activities. Convey standards of performance and utilize performance management techniques to fully maximize employee productivity, development, motivation, and disciplinary procedures when required.
- Receive, investigate and follow-up on all customer complaints. Formulate and authorize appropriate solutions to promote guest satisfaction.
- Inspect facilities and equipment to ensure operating conditions are at acceptable levels. Identify needed improvements and repairs, and ensure proper maintenance of equipment through preventive maintenance programs in conjunction with the Engineering Department.
- Understand the financial impact of the Laundry operation to the overall financial performance of the resort and manage accordingly.
- Manage the uniform program. Maintain inventory and quality control.
- Maintain healthy relationship between vendors and key operational departments.
- Demonstrate commitment to making a conscientious effort to eliminate or reduce the risk of injury to our guests and associates, damage to our property or the property of others. Know the correct action to take in the event of an emergency, and demonstrate this knowledge by acting appropriately in the event of an emergency. Lead by example by ensuring that subordinate Associates receive the appropriate or required safety- and security-related training, and strictly enforce safety- and security-related procedures within the department.
- As part of the Housekeeping Leadership Team, the position will require participation and support of the Housekeeping Leaders and the operation as needed. This includes, but is not limited to, the following duties:
- Assistance with administrative tasks.
- Interactions with team members.
- Periodic room inspections.
- Property inspections.
- Collaboration with appropriate departments on projects extending beyond basic cleaning and maintenance.
- At least two (2) years of Housekeeping and/or Laundry leadership experience
- Prior Housekeeping / Laundry management experience, preferred
- Experience in a hotel / resort laundry operation, preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office to include Excel (ex. creation and maintenance of spreadsheets)
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
