Laser Operator
Sterling Engineering & Fabrication, a custom steel fabricator, is searching for the perfect candidate to fill an integral position in our plant. The ideal fiber laser operator is an individual that has a strong work ethic and a keen eye for detail. They should be mechanically and technologically inclined and possess exceptional deductive reasoning skills. The environment we have cultivated here makes open positions at our company rare. Responsibilities:
- Set up the machine to include program retrieval, material handling, selecting proper nozzles, and other technical parameters to ensure the best quality parts are produced.
- Perform quality checks using blue prints and measuring tools at specified check points.
- Ability to follow company policy and procedures
- Perform routine maintenance
- Follow company policy and adhere to safety rules
- Communicate with production management on job status
- Complete daily 5S requirements
Required Skills:
- Intermediate computer skills
- Strong math skills (shop math)
- Superior communication skills
- Ability to use and properly read a tape measure
- Basic familiarity of hand tools
- Capable of distinguishing material types and thicknesses
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Work at consistent pace as the schedule dictates
- Ability to self-manage or work in a team
- Ability to lift over 50lbs+ throughout a shift
- Problem-solving skills with high degree of mechanical aptitude
- Consistant work history with no attendance issues. Must have reliable transportation.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and move over an 8-hour shift without issue
- Organized, with strong attention to detail and time management skills
- Quick learner.
Desired skills:
- Experience working in a metal fabrication shop.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and shop drawings
- Previous machine operator experience
- Experience operating CNC machines
- Overhead crane and forklift experience
