LABORER - SR. LABORER - Janitorial / Divisional Support at Southwest Research Institute

Objectives of this Role:

• The Applied Power Division strives to have functional, well-maintained, and presentable lab spaces, work spaces, breakrooms, conference rooms and restrooms.
• The role of the Laborer in the Applied Power Division is fast paced and requires the ability to multi-task.
• Duties include operating industrial cleaning equipment, maintaining facilities, cleaning facilities, escorting duties, safe chemical handling, and general laborer tasking.

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:

• Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners & power equipment in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
• Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, vacuuming carpet, steam-clean or shampoo carpets.
• Occasional stripping, sealing, and polish of floors.
• Independently clean offices, laboratories, lobbies, breakrooms, conference rooms, dust furniture, and fixtures.
• Gather and empty trash receptacles. Service, clean, and supply restrooms with soap, paper towels, and toilet paper.
• Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
• Notify manager concerning the need for major or minor repairs.
• Ability to work at a steady, diligent pace to complete assigned duties within allotted timeframe and quality standards.
• Additional equipment operation, escorting duties, and other duties to be assigned as needed.

Requirements:

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
• 0-2 years: General laborer or janitorial experience.
• Self-Motivated individual with strong communication skills, and the ability to multi-task.
• Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, squat, twist, reach, pull and lift and carry objects up to 30 lbs. without assistance.
• Must have the ability to walk or stand for the duration of the work shift.
• TS/SCI security clearance is preferred.
• A valid/clear driver's license is required.
