LABORER - SR. LABORER - Facilities at Southwest Research Institute

Who We Are:

Our team is responsible for office and Lab moves and relocates. We load and deliver items to storage and assist our campus with pick-ups and deliveries of miscellaneous items as requested in a safe and professional manner.

Objectives of this Role:

• Assist SwRI labor staff with moving office furniture, filing cabinets, desks, and other office items throughout campus.
• Monitor, engage, and complete requests on our Planon help-desk ticket system.
• Within the general ticket request, keep accurate start, pause and completion times and document job related work comments.
• Safely loading and unload office furniture, boxes, and lab equipment onto and off trucks.
• Use moving blankets and straps to prevent damage and operate moving carts and appliance dolly and other equipment as needed ensuring that all items are properly secured.
• Interacting with requestors professionally and using skilled moving techniques to ensure satisfaction.
• Coordinate with the requestor a date/arrival time for moving equipment as listed in scope of work.
• Locating and relocating office equipment and furniture, such as desks, chairs, and tables.
• Deliver and setup or arrange furniture for special events.

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:

• Safely and efficiently handling client property, including furniture, lab equipment, machinery, project material, and general supplies.
• Manually move office furniture and materials from one office or lab to another.
• Load and transport electronic equipment to designated areas per ESS requirements.
• Assist with moving large equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, and lab equipment to designated shops for repairs.
• Place and pickup signs for various events on campus. Keep designated areas and moving equipment clean and safe.
• Communicate effectively with team members and customers to ensure a positive moving experience.

Requirements:

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Shift work required.
• 1 years: Experience with carrying, relocating, and communicating with others on proper moving and lifting.
• 1 years: Working in a team for a moving company or related experience as a mover
• 0-1 years: Helping others move office furniture or related experience
• A valid/clear driver's license is required.
