Laborer - Parks & Recreation - City of Friendswood

The City of Friendswood is currently accepting applications for a full-time Laborer in the Parks & Recreation Department. This position is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the City's parks, buildings, grounds, and structures..Work Performed:Assist in the maintenance and clean-up of park facilities and City buildingsPerform routine ground maintenance, including emptying trash cans, cleaning restrooms, and picking up litter and other debrisPerforms daily inspections and cleaning of Parks' vehicle and equipmentInspects building facilities, park facilities, and other park equipment including vehiclesPerforms simple plumbing repairs, such as unclogging plumbing fixtures and repairing minor leaksAssists in setting up the annual Fourth of July and other City sponsored eventsApplies over the counter insecticides to areas as neededDocuments daily work routine and keeps record of janitorial supply inventoryEducation and Experience: High school diploma or G.E.D., 6 months experience; valid Texas Driver's LicenseSkills, Knowledge and Abilities: Basic knowledge in the use and care of janitorial equipment; basic knowledge in the operation of a motor vehicle (with and without a trailer in tow), landscaping tools and maintenance equipment (including power tools and basic hand tools); basic knowledge of plumbing, simple carpentry and knowledge of set up and assembly.Physical Requirements: Primarily works outside so employee may be exposed to adverse weather conditions, noise, fertilizer, and insect sprays. Physical demands are heavy and may include lifting, standing, walking, and bending.
