Laboratory Technician *ZR - Town of Barnstable

Job Description:

Skilled technical and laboratory work in collection and testing the chemical and bacteriological samples of wastewater treatment plant operations and Town wide environmental projects; assists in interpreting data and preparing reports of conclusions; all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science degree in biology, chemistry, public health or related field; more than one year experience in analytical chemistry and laboratory work in a related field; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Massachusetts Wastewater Laboratory Analyst Certification is preferred.

Valid driver’s license.

Grade 4 Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator’s license or ability to obtain within a year.

Certificate in CPR and First Aid administration preferred.

Additional Qualifications:

Knowledge of the principles, practices and equipment used in testing wastewater and water materials. Knowledge of environmental problems and solutions. Knowledge of local, state and federal regulations and requirements, relating to wastewater treatment. Knowledge of the general operation of a wastewater treatment plant and water quality work.

Ability to perform and analyze complex laboratory tests. Ability to operate testing equipment. Ability to prepare detailed reports and maintain accurate records.

Strong analytical, mathematics, chemistry and computer skills.

$1,116.13 weekly + benefits
