Responsibilities
**Position Summary:**
Research technician in a lab studying the molecular mechanisms of organelle biogenesis and degradation in mammalian tissue culture cells and yeast cells. The technician will be an integral part of a research team. Position will be ideal for those individuals who can work in the lab for at least 1 year and who are looking to gain research experience before graduate or medical school.
Will carry out multiple complex and independent experiments and laboratory duties under supervision from the PI.
35% Manage and oversee day to day operations of the laboratory such as: ordering, stocking and maintaining lab supplies; keeping and updating laboratory records and inventory; training of new lab personnel; maintaining lab adherence to all safety protocols; and ensuring compliance with federal and university regulations.
40% Takes a lead role in carrying out experiments including but not limited to: generating and maintaining yeast strains and mammalian cell culture; collecting, recording, organizing, and analyzing imaging data; purifying proteins and performing biochemical assays.
15% Exercises independent judgment with delegated authority by the PI, develops experimental study protocols, develops analysis and statistical reports based on experimental data, reads the literature applicable to research efforts and stay abreast of current trends, and participates in laboratory meetings and journal clubs.
10% Responsibilities will also include the supervision of undergraduates and rotating graduate students in the lab to troubleshoot problems that may arise with experimental protocols and lab equipment.
**Qualifications:**
High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree in Health Science, Biology, Chemistry or other science related field of study preferred. 5 years of experience performing basic sampling, monitoring or research activities; compiling and collecting data and preparing reports required or equivalent combination of education and experience. OSHA safety requirements; scientific methods required.
The ideal applicant will have a B.A, B.S. or M.S. in biology, cell biology, biochemistry, or genetics with strong laboratory experience in molecular and cell biology.

**Pay Range**
Pay Range: $ 18.89 - $ 26.44 Hourly

Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations._
