Position Overview:

Seeking a skilled Clinical Manager to oversee the Blood Bank (Transfusion Services) department. This role offers the opportunity to lead a dynamic team at a 495-bed hospital. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in blood banking, including supervisory experience, and a strong background in clinical laboratory science.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage daily operations and staff within the Blood Bank department.
• Ensure compliance with regulations and quality standards in transfusion services.
• Supervise a team consisting of 1 Technical Coordinator, 1 Laboratory Assistant, and 3-5 MLT/MT.
• Collaborate with various hospital departments, including Trauma, to ensure effective blood utilization and manage Massive Transfusion Protocols.
• Act as a member of key committees, including Blood Utilization Review.
• Coordinate and oversee on-call responsibilities, ensuring proper coverage for the lab.
• Work closely with the Laboratory Director and Lab Management Team to achieve department goals.

Required Qualifications:

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or a related field (Chemical, Biological, or Physical Science).
• Master’s degree preferred.

Certifications:

• ASCP or equivalent board certification required.
• Specialist in Blood Banking (SBB) certification preferred.
• ACLS, BLS, and other relevant certifications may be required.

Experience:

• Minimum 5 years of Blood Bank experience required, 8 years preferred.
• 2 years of experience as a Blood Bank Supervisor required.
• 1 year of laboratory experience in high complexity testing for immunohematology.
• Experience in high-volume hospital laboratory settings preferred.

Skills:

• Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to guide and mentor a team.
• Excellent knowledge of laboratory practices and transfusion services.

Position Details:

• Work Schedule: Salaried position with flexible start times between 6:00 am and 8:00 am, on-call rotation required.
• Salary Range: $32.57 - $50.48 per hour, based on experience.
