Job description/Responsibilities: PART-TIME (24 hrs per week) All Shifts APPROXIMATE PAY RANGE: $57.08 - $70.21 Under minimal supervision, the CLS Laboratory Section Lead/Supervisor is responsible for the technical and scientific oversight of their area of responsibility within the laboratory. The position is responsible for assisting the laboratory manager and the general supervisor, if any, in the effective operation of the laboratory through the coordination of all activities in their area of responsibility. Works closely with the other CLS Laboratory Section Lead/Supervisors and the laboratory manager to determine effective resource allocation. The CLS Laboratory Section Lead/Supervisor may be designated to serve as the Technical Supervisor or General Supervisor under CLIA provided that designation as a Technical Supervisor or General Supervisor under CLIA will not result in the employee becoming a ?supervisor? under the National Labor Relations Act. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.Ability to function in all areas of the clinical laboratory: blood bank, chemistry, hematology, coagulation, microbiology, serology/immunology. 2. Responsible for performing high-complexity testing. 3. Follows established procedures to perform Routine and STAT clinical laboratory testing 4. Notifies patient care unit and/or physician of critical lab values according to policy. 5. Follows established quality control procedures for all tests including initiation of remedial action in out-of-control situations. 6. Keeps abreast of reference and critical values for neonates, infants, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients so that the appropriate physician notification takes place in the event of the recovery of critical values related to specific age groups. 7. Performs all Laboratory Information system (LIS) functions necessary to complete patient testing and specimen processing. 8. Consults with other departments, as appropriate, to collaborate in patient care and performance improvement activities. 9. Maintains a clean and organized work area and follow standard precautions at all times. 10. Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
Required Qualification: EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING 1. Current valid CA Clinical Laboratory Scientist License required. 2. Sexual Harassment/ Bullying Prevention Certification required. (1 month from hire) 3. Minimum four years experience as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist with focus in the area of Microbiology, Chemistry/POCT/UA, Transfusion Services/Hematology or Phlebotomy/Reference, preferred. 4. Bachelors of Science Degree in Biology or related field preferred.
