Job Summary: The Laboratory Assistant provides quality diagnostic services in collaboration with medical technologists, nursing staff, and physicians. This role involves performing non-technical procedures, including phlebotomy and clerical tasks, under supervision.
Essential Functions:
- Perform venipuncture and capillary puncture using aseptic techniques.
- Label specimens accurately and enter patient demographics into the laboratory system.
- Communicate effectively and maintain a positive attitude in stressful situations.
- Adhere to safety protocols and handle hazardous materials appropriately.
- Participate in continuing education and maintain professional standards.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- At least six months of hospital lab experience preferred.
- Current Washington State Medical Assistant Phlebotomy license required.
- American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification required.
Physical Demands: The role requires standing, walking, and lifting up to 20 pounds, with specific vision abilities necessary for performing tasks.
Job Type: Full-time, with a pay range of $20.84 - $31.00 per hour, including benefits for eligible employees.
