JobsRUs.com is a service-oriented staffing/recruiting company dedicated to working closely with our clients. We are currently hiring for a Lab Technician in Heuvelton, NY.
The Lab Technician will monitor products daily and perform microbiological testing, while maintaining the shelf-life program.
M-F Days
Pay Rate: $16.50/hour
Responsibilities
Test samples of in-process and finished goods cheese and whey to ensure compliance with standards.
Test free and total chlorine daily and report results to supervisor.
Process sample requests.
Conduct water testing.
Perform yeast, mold and coliform testing on designated lots of cheese.
Perform and report results for swab sampling of equipment and surfaces and set out air plates.
Review shelf samples and subjectively analyze package integrity.
Examine label sheets to ensure proper prices, upc numbers and code dates are accurate.
Record daily temperature at various locations within facility.
Report GMP violators.
Start up and shut down lab equipment.
Daily performance checks of lab equipment.
Ensuring lab is clean and maintained.
Maintain general housekeeping of work area.
Expected to perform any assignment or job task according to the stated safety policies and procedures.
Expected to produce our products in a manner that exceeds the quality and value expectation of our customers and consumers by adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices, Policies and Procedures outlined in our Safe Quality Food Program.
Other responsibilities as assigned by the manager.
Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills
Experience in food science or quality.
1 year of lab technician experience or more preferred
Food manufacturing experience.
Knowledge/understanding of chemical and physical processes relating to cheese and packaging quality.
Experience with Dairy, Cheese, and Aseptic Techniques preferred.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in a lab setting.
Occasional exposure to industrial operations including: temperature extremes from approximately 35ºF to 100ºF; noise levels in excess of 85 dB; moisture and moving machinery.
Hair nets, ear plugs/muffs, hardhats, and/or safety glasses may be required.
Ability to constantly stand/walk; bend/flex/extend neck; frequently grip/reach/lift/pull with L/R hands.
