Summary of Duties:
This position is responsible for the chemical lab analysis area, to include all testing, analysis, cleaning, and necessary documentation, to ensure that all plating lines are using the appropriate chemicals for quality, safety, and production standards as set forth by the company. Must have chemical testing knowledge and experience, as well as the ability to learn and develop full technical understanding of how plating works and the ability to troubleshoot plating problems as they arise. This position will assist and support the supervisor with workflow, safety, quality, test scheduling, and any other related duties the supervisor assigns.
Job Duties Include (but not limited to):
- Perform quality checks in conjunction with the Plating Dept. to ensure that the correct chemical adds are being made.
- Monitor all chemical tanks in place for proper plating accuracy and quality.
- Keep records of all testing and analysis as well as tank conditions.
- Determine testing instructions for new chemicals as required.
- Inventory all supplies for weekly ordering.
- Maintain Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
- Complete monthly area safety inspection.
- Support supervisor as needed in the Waste Treatment Area or on the Plating Floor.
- Process Samples on the AA.
- Maintain clean glassware/lab equipment.
- Input and review data in TrueChem.
Minimum Job Requirements (but not limited to):
- Associate degree and experience, or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred, a combination of education and experience may be substituted upon review.
- Legible handwriting and ability to follow and communicate instructions well to others.
- Demonstrated mastery in the use of measuring instruments, gauges, and test equipment.
- Understanding of decimals, fractions, percentages, and weighted averages.
- Well-developed organizational and communication skills.
- Must be able to work well with little or no supervision and exercise reasonable judgement independently, as well as work cooperatively with a team when necessary.
- Must be able to understand plating chemistry.
- Ability to lift to 70 pounds at frequent intervals.
- Computer knowledge required, (MS Word, Excel).
- Working understanding of fundamental mechanical principles.
- Working understanding of standard product flow.
- Must have the flexibility to work overtime hours, when necessary, as well as travel to and from Greenwood and Hodges facilities.
