Position Purpose: | ||
Under the supervision of the Manager of EMR Technical Infrastructure, this position is responsible for defining, developing and managing the EPIC environments, including coordination of approvals and subsequent promotion of modifications to the production environment. This lead role coordinates the effort to define and document environment needs/requirements of the EPIC application, technical, testing and training teams, as well as activities to prepare environments. Responsible for identifying and reporting issues, managing updates and upgrades, maintaining refresh schedules, developing and maintaining documentation of technical infrastructure, policies and procedures. Coordinates environment downtime, and plans and manages scheduled events. This role will work in collaboration with technical team leads to manage upgrade activities, scheduled maintenance activities, and the receipt, tracking and application of vendor release authorizations and change orders. Will be expected to provide input on enterprise change control, conduct downtime, disaster recovery, cutover/go-live planning activities. Will enforce and adhere to strict enterprise change control policies and procedures as well as ensure migration/validation processes are followed. | ||
Nature and Scope: | ||
Manages, defines and coordinates changes to EPIC environments, including oversight of the change control process, and ensures proper documentation, testing and data migration tools are used to protect integrity of the EPIC database and functionality. · Functions as a liaison between technical staff, application build teams, testing team, and training team under the direction of the Manager of EMR Technical Infrastructure oCoordinate effective communication between application and technical teams oCoordinate and lead cross-functional team discussions · Leads effort to define environment needs/requirements of EPIC application teams and coordinates activities to prepare environments · Review application build team, testing teams, training team and technical team environment related requirements and make sound well thought out recommendations · Identifies and reports problems/issues with EPIC environment maintenance, content or usage; conducts impact analysis and/or root cause analysis and provides a synopsis of the issue including potential solutions and risks to leadership · Develops, supports, and maintains documentation and procedures related to the management and use of EPIC environments and provides training to other staff · Maintains documentation of EPIC technical infrastructure · Facilitates daily EPIC Environment Coordination meetings (as-needed) · Defines and manages the process for the delivery, evaluation, testing and implementation of Special Updates, Interim Updates and Major Version Upgrades · Plans and coordinates EPIC environment downtimes and downtime communication · Plans and manages scheduled events such as 3rd party data loads and batch jobs · Participates in and at times coordinates and facilitates calls for troubleshooting issues during off hours · Plans and coordinates upgrade activities and scheduled/monthly maintenance activities · Works in collaboration with the Change Team / Release Analyst to manage the receipt, tracking and application of vendor Release Authorizations and Special Updates · Maintains the EPIC environment refresh schedule · Develops and maintains mechanism for tracking environment refreshes and version changes · With the understanding of Epic technical architecture, use forethought to avoid poor environment planning (i.e.: taking full technical requirements into consideration like Interconnect, Blob, Sure Scripts, OBix, etc. impacts, integration and usage) · Provides input to the Change Control Board and other project teams/committees as needed regarding EPIC Downtime, EPIC Disaster Recovery, Cutover/Go-Live Planning · Enforces and follow Enterprise Change Control policies and procedures · Ensures migration/validation processes are understood and followed · Provides input to the continuous improvement of Change Control tools · Completes weekly project-related and task related status reports · Provides input to the continuous improvement of Change Control tools · Additional responsibilities and flexible working hours may be required KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Minimum Qualifications: Requirements - Required and/or Preferred | ||
Education: | Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing and speaking English. Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems, Business, Computer Science, or equivalent training and experience required. College Degree preferred. | |
Experience: | 7+ years IT experience in a multi-platform, mission critical 24x7 environment required. 4+ years Epic Implementation experience required. 3+ years Healthcare experience required EPIC certification required Experience in practices of ITIL Service Management required Project Management Experience desired Solid understanding of EPIC technical architecture Knowledge of EPIC content migration tools such as Data Courier and ETAN desired | |
Certification(s): | Incumbent is required to become EPIC Certified. Ongoing maintenance of certification is required for continued employment. | |
Computer / Typing: | Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook,PowerPoint, Excel and Word andhave the ability to use the computer to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc. |
