Overview:
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Laboratory Technician II is responsible for the maintenance of daily laboratory operations, performing a wide variety of research and/or development laboratory tasks and experiments and maintains laboratory equipment and inventory levels for laboratory supplies.
Responsibilities:ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Asceptically cultures common mammalian cell lines
- Vials biological material
- Packs and ships temperature-sensitive biological material
- Keeps track of and maintains inventory
- Performs autoclaving of biohazard waste
- Washes and autoclaves glassware
- Maintains lab stocks of general consumables
- Assists with buffer and media preparation
- Monitors and maintains all equipment, ensures that general preventative maintenance is conducted
- Develops new more time effective approaches to maintaining the day-to-day operations of the laboratory
- Performs additional job duties as required
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Requires an Associate degree with a minimum 0-2 years of relevant experience
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions precisely
- Demonstrated ability to recognize deviations from standard procedures and initiate appropriate corrective action
- Ability to troubleshoot within scope of training
- Computer literate and proficient in MS Word, Excel and other relevant electronic systems
- Demonstrated ability to multitask and consistently meet deadlines
- Possesses strong attention to detail, ability to maintain accurate written records
- Ability to communicate effectively with others
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a team
- Must be able to lift 35 lbs
