Job Title: Lab Technician
Location: Newark, NJ
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM (1-hour lunch, 35-hour work week)
Compensation: $25-$30/hour
Duration: 3 months (leave coverage)
Target Start Date: First week of December
Overview
Our client is a leading organization committed to sustainable innovation in environmental science and waste management. They specialize in solutions that drive progress for communities and the environment. The lab team focuses on wastewater treatment, soil analysis, and waste compatibility testing.
The Lab Technician will support quality assurance and environmental testing in a dynamic laboratory setting. This role is ideal for individuals with a background in chemistry or biology and a passion for environmental sciences.
Responsibilities
- Perform dilutions and sample weighing.
- Conduct QA/QC testing on soil samples, organic waste, sludge, and aqueous waste.
- Execute compatibility and wastewater treatment testing.
- Maintain certificates and related documentation.
- Manage sample receiving and data entry using LIMS systems.
- Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Lift up to 40 lbs as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, or related field (required).
- Current MS students are welcome to apply.
- 3-5 years of laboratory experience (academic or internship experience accepted).
- Wet chemistry expertise.
- Proficient in LIMS systems.
- Comfortable working in a sewerage treatment facility environment (odors expected).
Additional Information
- Interview Process: Virtual (TEAMS/ZOOM) followed by an onsite interview.
- Pre-employment Screening: Drug and background checks, including criminal (county, state, national), credit, driving, and SSN verification. A 10-panel drug screen is required.
