The Lab Supervisor is responsible for the implementation of the MedTech Education learning and development strategy for Johnson and Johnson MedTech. The Supervisor will lead the planning and execution of MedTech Education and R&D programs at their Institute location as well as regional training centers as needed. The Supervisor will facilitate practical courses using tissue and simulated training models. Order and ensure the proper maintenance of all lab equipment, while maintaining accurate and complete records of training events for compliance and metrics purposes in our LIMS platform. These events are primarily centered around: surgeon training, new product development, product launches, and sales team training programs.
The Lab Supervisor will also support as needed, the activities of field-based labs to provide ongoing support of surgeon training events sponsored by Professional Education. The person's main focus will be to ensure a consistent lab experience for participants by following all established safety and lab procedures so that labs are orderly and provide a clean, OR type setting for participants. The Irvine lab is aligned to Johnson and Johnson MedTech's the Orthopaedics and Cardiac portfolios.
The Lab Supervisor must collaborate and align priorities with EdTech, field sales organization, marketing, R&D and MD&D leaders to develop detailed plans for execution including budgets, facility and supply needs.
The Lab Supervisor must lead projects through close collaboration with all relevant partners to include other J&J Lab Supervisors to ensure consistency with all J&J Institutes. Additional partners to communicate and align with policies include EH&S, facility maintenance, shipping/receiving, housekeeping, security, and external vendors. They must ensure compliance to all legal, regulatory and HCC policies to include; FDA, USDA, Advamed, Pharma, ACCME and other global legal and regulatory bodies. They will participate in audits required by these governing bodies.
The Lab Supervisor will be required to follow policies and procedures related to work activities performed in area of responsibility. For this individual, training is required for changes in existing policies & procedures, for new assignments & for implementation of new policies & procedures.
This individual will follow all company safety policies & other safety precautions within work area. The Lab Supervisor will promote safety to all associates that enter work area. Promote Health Care Compliance guidelines as well as follow operating room training and safety standards (Bloodborne pathogens training, radiation use and safety, etc.) to provide an environment for learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage inventory and utilization of anatomical models for educational and R&D program events.
- Coordinate staffing requirements among a team of fixed staff, and per-diem pool.
- Foster a safe working environment, with support from Facility management, EHS&S, and office services.
- Maintain equipment through preventative maintenance and repair where needed.
- Interface with end-user to identify goals of training programs, and facilitate logistic support.
- Manage cost-to-budget through supply chain and procurement systems.
- Conduct program cost and compliance reconciliation.
- A minimum of a Bachelor's degree required, with a preference for a science field of study
Required:
- A minimum of 5 years of healthcare business experience is required.
- Must be comfortable handling anatomical tissue and working in a laboratory environment.
- Experience in a healthcare business environment such as: Clinical Education, Healthcare Industry, Medical Devices, or Clinical Setting is required.
- Self-starter with problem-solving skills.
- Must show an ability to prioritize and achieve multiple short and long-term goals.
- Operating Room or Healthcare Professional facing experience.
- Experience in Education and/or Training within the healthcare industry.
- Experience in Orthopaedic and/or General Surgery medical procedures.
- Experience in project management.
- Experience in medical device product development
- Up to 10% travel domestically, including overnight.
- The Lab Supervisor must operate in a fast-paced technical environment, with a range of professional colleagues including healthcare providers.
