Lab and Building Support Specialist
Summary:
The position of Lab and Facilities Support Specialist is to be the point of contact for all activities related to the building and supporting laboratory staff with building, equipment and facilities activities.
This person will coordinate facility aspects of a GLP laboratory building, be the equipment owner for incubators and freezers, manage on-call procedures for building equipment, coordinate equipment maintenance, coordinate inventory of required supplies, and be an active member of the Safety team for the building.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate facilities aspects of the laboratory building
Submit and follow up on Facilities Service requests
Point of contact for equipment moves, laboratory building maintenance issues, site-wide maintenance initiatives, and transport of material between sites/transfer to study sites/assist in short term storage
Equipment owner Incubators/freezers/coldrooms - submit Service requests for maintenance of (non-GMP) laboratory freezers/coldrooms/incubators
Create work orders for inspections/assessments
Initiate and maintain documents for new freezers/incubators
Manage On-call lists for freezers/coldrooms/incubators
Coordinate defrost/purge/shut down procedures
Manage On-call procedures for building equipment/personnel and assign new On-call personnel on an annual rotation
Provide training to new personnel
Maintain training on related GMP procedures
Manage laboratory coat inventory for building with 3rd party launderer
Work with laboratory services to schedule and ensure annual on-site equipment preventative maintenance with 3rd party vendors
Monthly sanitation of biological safety cabinets to maintain (non-GMP) aseptic environment for scientists to perform low-bioburden studies
Coordination of pipette calibration with 3rd party vendors
Submit online request forms for shipping material through Biological Shipping and Receiving; coordinate and deliver Biological Shipping and Receiving samples to lab colleagues
Create customs invoices for international shipments/coordinate on review and approval.
Coordinate reusable-controlled-temperature-carton returns between requestor and World Courier
Coordinate Inventory of required supplies through Managed Inventory Program (MIP) and other vendors as needed
Initiate annual Purchase Order with 3rd party o Submit "new item request to 3rd party
Monthly 5S status updates
Organized lab clean outs and freezer/incubator/coldroom purges
Coordinate floor waxing in the labs
Participate as a My Green Lab representative for environmental sustainability
Be an active member of building environmental health and safety team
Qualifications:
High school diploma with a minimum of 2+ years of related lab experience OR;
Associate's degree with a minimum of 2+ years of related lab experience
Lab and industry experience required
Great communication skills
