Job Description
The Shift Leader is responsible for supervising and managing the daily activities and operations of their designated shift. They are accountable for ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively, while maintaining high levels of quality control, safety standards, and serving great food. The Shift Leader will also lead and motivate team members to achieve their goals and objectives in accordance with company policies and guidelines by being fully present and available in the back of house.
Operations Management
• Monitor and supervise team members to ensure efficient and effective operation of the shift.
• Ensure that all quality control, safety, and operating procedures are being followed by all team members.
• Assist in the training and development of new team members.
Team Management
• Direct and motivate team members to meet the shift’s objectives and performance targets.
• Provide on-going coaching and feedback to improve individual and team performance.
• Train new and existing team members on procedures, policies, and guidelines.
• Foster a positive culture and ensure team members are following policies and guidelines.
Food Safety
• Understands the importance of health and hygiene among all members of the team
• Can recognize time and temperature of food items for quality purposes
• Is able to maintain kitchen clean and sanitized while coaching others
• Understands occurrences of cross- contamination to keep team and guests healthy
Key Requirements
• Possess excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
• Demonstrate the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge and experience in food service, retail, or hospitality industry.
• Possess knowledge of food safety, and great quality food.
• Good at problem-solving and conflict resolution.
• At least 1 year of supervisory experience required.
• Previous experience in the food service industry required.
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
