Kitchen Manager will ensure that the youth we serve are receiving quality services that include healthy and well prepared food that is delivered in a welcoming manner with absolute respect and unconditional love. Ensure that the kitchen maintains the standard of cleanliness and food safety as determined by industry standards.
Duties and responsibilities
- Talented, responsible, results-oriented Kitchen Manager with exceptional culinary and management skills to work with our cooks to provide superior cuisine to our guests prepared by a team of well-trained kitchen professionals.
- Responsible for food preparation, inventory and labor control, hiring, training, and overall leadership of the back of the house staff.
- Responsible for ensuring that every dish is prepared consistently, in a timely manner, and meet our high level of expectations
- Create weekly menus that follow a balanced nutritional standard.
- Offer a menu which is inclusive of all cultures.
- Present meals in a visually appealing way which looks fresh and offer variety.
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels. Plan and shop for supplies and pantry items. Keep inventory fresh and current.
- Receive, inspect and stock food shipments upon arrival ensuring all products meet required specifications and quality.
- Check received products against invoiced amounts.
- Maintain records of kitchen expenditures.
- Hire, train and supervise kitchen staff.
- Provide coaching and oversight to cooks to ensure that the food they are serving meets the high quality standards during their shifts.
- Monitor staff uniforms and food safety protocols.
- Supervise the kitchen interns during their weeks training period.
- Create a kitchen atmosphere that makes customer service a priority.
- Keep an exemplary cleaned kitchen.
- Assists as needed with fundraising affairs and special events which may be conducted outside the employee’s normal work schedule.
- Plan catering events for on and off site.
- Required to check and respond to emails daily during the work week.
- All other duties assigned by management staff.

Required Experience:
- Three years of experience operating a kitchen with a minimum of one year in a supervisory capacity.
- Culinary Arts degree preferred or appropriate experience.
- Must be able to lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule as required.
- Certificate of Sanitary Food Handling.
- Valid New Jersey drivers’ license with an insurable driving record
