Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled Key Account Manager to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in negotiating with transportation providers, setting rates, and ensuring exceptional service levels. Your responsibilities will include monitoring carrier performance, directing the Carrier Sales team, and identifying growth opportunities within our accounts. You will also manage customer interactions, handle shipment routing requests, and utilize various software systems to optimize transportation logistics.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Negotiate rates and services with transportation carriers and providers.
- Monitor carrier service levels using the VFT system.
- Provide guidance and pricing guidelines to the Carrier Sales team.
- Identify growth opportunities within branch house accounts.
- Prepare and distribute load-build reports for customers and carriers.
- Assist in training Carrier Sales team members.
- Review and troubleshoot errors and issues.
- Handle customer shipment routing requests proactively.
- Utilize transportation software systems for material movement and scheduling.
- Track and trace shipments from pickup to delivery.
- Ensure accurate and timely scheduling and dispatching of trucks and rail cars.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- High School diploma.
- 2 years' experience in logistics, transportation brokerage, or related field.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Required:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
