Department Summary:The Early Academic Outreach Program (EAOP) is an academic preparation program established in 1976 by the University of California to expand postsecondary education opportunities for California’s educationally disadvantaged students. UCLA EAOP works with students to help them become competitively eligible applicants for college admission, going beyond minimum eligibility. EAOP works collaboratively with families, educators, schools, communities, and various campus departments to provide pre-college students with challenging academic enrichment activities to promote and cultivate a college-going culture. EAOP is one of the state’s most successful pre-collegiate student academic development programs. UCLA EAOP works with over 15,000 students in middle school and high school each year. This includes working with 81 schools in 10 school districts. Since 1991, approximately 60% of EAOP seniors meet UC eligibility each year, 82% attend a postsecondary institution upon high school graduation and 62% attend a 4-year institution, with 25% attending a UC school.Position Summary:
Under the general supervision of the EAOP Associate Directors, the Regional Manager is responsible for overseeing and implementing components of the UCLA Early Academic Outreach Program (EAOP), specifically the Destination College Advising Corps (DCAC) program, a pre-college academic preparation program for economically and educationally disadvantaged students, at assigned high schools and/or middle schools in under-served communities within Los Angeles County. The Regional Manager will work in a team environment as well as independently to impact and build an academic community that promotes a college going culture in the schools and in the community. The incumbent's responsibilities include, but are not limited to training, supervising, and evaluating the work performance of DCAC College Adviser Fellows (recent college graduates) and other student staff, delegating tasks, monitoring workflow, approving and managing students' work schedules, and implementing the EAOP/DCAC service plan per the specifics of each school's Service Agreement with EAOP. Regional Managers are assigned a team of 7-9 College Adviser Fellows and corresponding school site partners to oversee. As DCAC is also an AmeriCorps program, the Regional Manager is also responsible for overseeing all AmeriCorps components within their team and their sites. Incumbent is responsible for required data collection and maintaining current data on assigned students in the EAOP database system. As Regional Manager, incumbent will participate in program planning, attend meetings, conferences, prepare monthly reports, quarterly and annual year-end reports and learn the UCLA admission application review process. The Regional Manager is responsible for overseeing and implementing services and activities outlined in the EAOP/DCAC Service Plan which includes the EAOP five standards (Academic Advising, Academic Enrichment, College Knowledge, Financial Aid and Family & Community Engagement) and the DCAC Key Performance Indicators. Additionally, the Regional Manager is also a liaison to all UCLA outreach efforts in assigned schools, as well as primary liaison to CAC National. The incumbent is expected to keep the EAOP Senior Staff and Director abreast of all outreach activities and programs taking place in assigned schools and where feasible, partner and collaborate with programs on implementing academic preparation activities and services for students and parents. The Regional Manager position is currently a hybrid position with a minimum of two days in the office (more depending on program needs) and the remaining three days either at site or work from home (this is subject to change as the department or university requirements change). The Regional Manager is required to make site visits to all sites/advisers they oversee on a minimum monthly basis with additional visits made on as-need basis or as directed by the Associate Director/Director. The two positions hired will be responsible for either our South/South Central LA region or our East/South Central LA region.

Teaching Teaching experience/background (Preferred) Extensive experience working with public middle school or high schools in Los Angeles county, including school personnel, faculty and administrators. Sensitive and empathetic in dealing with student (Required)Demonstrated ability to present or conduct workshop presentations to individual, small group or large group assembly settings to a variety of audiences including students, parents, school personnel, subordinate staff, senior and executive level administrators. (Required)Demonstrated leadership and management skills to lead a team effort organizing and delegating work assignments, supervising personnel, coaching and evaluating work performance. (Required)Advanced knowledge of K-12 and higher education institutions (UC, CSU, CC and Privates), admissions and financial aid and scholarship requirements, and matriculation process. (Required)Working knowledge of the organizational structure of LAUSD and other local school districts with regard to such factors as location, student population, and academic programs. (Preferred)Ability to develop and execute training materials intended to teach/enhance the knowledge of staff in the areas of admission requirements, advising techniques and professionalism.
