Responsibilities:
- Achieve consistent success for the Public Works team across various measures within a region or multiple business units.
- Demonstrate leadership contributions to advance corporate initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
- Cultivate respected colleague and trusted confidant relationships with clients.
- Provide excellent customer and client service, serve as a valued resource for exploring and solving client problems
- Manage and lead multiple projects simultaneously from preconstruction through closeout.
- Leverage client relationships to consistently secure profitable work year after year.
- Prepare operational plan and work with Business Unit Leader (BUL) on new revenue pursuits and presentations.
- Effectively support complex and large-scale projects of $20-100M.
- Provide support for schedule, budget, quality, safety, client relationships, and talent management.
- Apply extensive knowledge of building industry systems to influence best means and methods of construction and schedule.
- Set expectations for continuous improvement and contribute to the implementation of LEAN processes.
- Promote and support the GCON Way within the region and Business Unit (BU).
- Consistently make exemplary risk management decisions in the best interests of company and clients.
- Consistently manage trade partner relationships, relied upon by the Business Unit (Bu).
- Play an instrumental role in project planning, developing key project metrics for budget, schedule, client relationship, staff, and trade partners.
- Ensure metrics are tracked and reported with clear actions and areas for continuous improvement.
- Manage financial forecasts for projects under purview, ensuring proper risk protocols are in place and guaranteeing timely and accurate forecasts.
- Lead actively in preconstruction services for projects to ensure design management process, estimating protocols, and GSTEPS are developed and maintained.
- Ensure project teams are knowledgeable on contract terms and requirements.
- Establish a contract deliverable matrix and ensure performance on contract documents.
- Model GCON Values and reinforce decisions and plans align with the GCON value model.
- Manage a sales plan aligned with the overall Business Unit (BU) sales strategy to sustain a competitive advantage and secure work.
- Ensure strict adherence to ethics and compliance requirements on all projects.
- Provide leadership in risk evaluation, contract negotiations, fee, and pricing.
- Model Stewardship and an Injury-Free Culture at all levels.
- Model partnership with clients and trade partners with ethical behavior, productive project delivery, and clear transparent communication.
- Lead actively in community engagement activities or events.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree from accredited degree program in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field, and minimum of ten (10) years of Building Construction experience required, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- 5+ years in K-12.
- Experience with variety of building construction types desired
- Thorough understanding of drawings and specifications, general contract and subcontract documents, materials, means and methods
- Thorough knowledge of construction cost, scheduling, estimating, purchasing and engineering principles and techniques, and accounting principles
- Ability to develop client relationships, identify sales opportunities and collaborate on solutions to secure work
- Extensive knowledge of regional market, competition, and industry trends
- Advanced project management skills, able to manage high volumes of work and ability to move projects forward in a complex environment in a timely manner
- Management experience required, and coach and mentor others
- Negotiation skills with ability to influence and engage others
- Executive level presentation skills, anticipates needs of audience, and tailors communications appropriately
- Professional verbal and written communication skills, able to influence and negotiate.
- Familiar with budget management.
- Pursues everything with energy, drive and sees initiatives through to completion.
- Effectively work across levels within organization
- Process and critical thinking skills with sound judgement decision-making.
- Utilize leading edge technology and methodologies, such as Building Information Modeling (BIM), Lean, OST Software, and Microsoft Office.
- Experience in different contract types and delivery methods, especially CMAR and Design Builds.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift to 25 pounds at times.
- Must be able to traverse and inspect all areas of jobsite in all types of weather; this may include walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling or stretching.
- Standing/Walking/Sitting: Workday is a combination of standing, walking, and sitting.
- Legs: Must be able to climb stairs.
- Hands/Arms: Constant use of hands/fingers for mouse/keyboard/computer use
- Vision: Visual acuity in near, mid, and far range. Color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, hand/eye coordination.
- Hearing: Sufficient to hear conversational levels in person and over the telephone and radio; sufficient to hear alarms on equipment.
- Speech: Sufficient to make oneself heard in person, speak in front of groups, and be understood over the telephone and radio.
- Lift/Carry: Up to 40lbs.
- Bending/Twisting: Minimal.
- Kneeling/Crouching/Crawling: Minimal.
- May require travel.
- Exposure to characteristic construction site dangers.
