Job Description:
- Set-up and run required DV, PV, Component, Investigative and Certification testing to customer and legal standards for exterior lighting products. Communicate the status and results of executed test verbally, through e-mail and written test reports.
- Support scheduling and performing of PM/Calibration of Plymouth test equipment.
- Help to make sure test equipment is 100% ready for testing by verifying spare parts, fluids and lubricants are fully stocked to minimize machine down time.
- Maintain integrity of test result records through efficient use of the lab book, lab test request system or other data collection systems for all Varroc programs.
- Maintain results accuracy and promote efficient use of resources through timely compilation of test reports.
- Help maintaining laboratory workspace. Organize lab supplies and equipment. Keep good 5S practices and help to facilitate improved 5S standards and projects.
- Actively participate in continuous improvement and cost savings projects.
- Ensure that test lab complies with safety, environmental, and good housekeeping practices including compliance to IATF internal laboratory requirements.
- Support scheduling and allocation of labor, equipment, and instrumentation required to complete tests.
- Ensure that equipment and instrumentation comply with requirements of the laboratory quality system.
- Minimize test equipment downtime (including preventative maintenance).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor of Science degree preferred, but not required based on work experience.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in automotive development or laboratory work and/or management.
- Must haves: Electronics knowledge, PCB knowledge, Environmental testing, Temperature testing, Client communication / negotiation, Technician experience / knowledge at Labs.
- Must have strong PC computer skills.
- Experience with validation and testing equipment, such as Goniometers (Goniophotometers); Color Spectrophotometer & Integrating Spheres; Environmental & Water Spray Chambers; Leak Testing; Power Supplies; Volt Meters; Thermocouples; and Data Acquisition.
- Specific knowledge of exterior lighting regulatory photometry testing for F/CMVSS and ECE markets is desired.
- Familiarity with injection molded product and assembly processes is a plus.
- Knowledge of GD&T, gaging, and statistics is a plus.
- Must have good communication skills and work well with people.
- Must be able to learn quickly and communicate ideas to peers and management.
- Overtime as required.
- Light travel to external test labs may be necessary.
