Information Technology Junior System Administrator / Vulnerability Specialist
Alsco is a privately-held company that is a leader in the textile services industry. Alsco’s internal Information Technology department provides technical support for branch locations throughout the US and Canada. Alsco is seeking an Information Technology Junior System Administrator who can take the lead patching, and updating servers and software, stay up to date on vulnerabilities and mitigating solutions, and assist in maintaining and monitoring a large distributed network of servers and backups.
Responsibilities:
- Be familiar with threats, patches, and updates related to Windows server environments and deployed server software
- Test patches and version updates on servers and software in a test environment.
- Deploy patches and updates to production systems in accordance with our security policy.
- Support and troubleshoot issues related to patches and updates.
- Cross train to backup other server admins with the following responsibilities.
- Support and troubleshoot hardware (Server/UPS) and coordinate repairs with remote office and third-party maintenance.
- Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
- Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up.
- Provide support for document scanning hardware/software in a large and widely distributed environment.
- Create, change, and delete Active Directory user accounts per request.
- Provide Tier III/other support
- Create and maintain technical and non-technical network documentation
Required Experience:
- Minimum 1 -2 years experience in System Administration or system patching.
- Minimum 1 -2 years working with several of the following, patching, updates, vulnerability research, servers and storage including HP, 3Par, and Dell
- Strong knowledge of Windows, Windows Server, and Active Directory.
- Knowledge of system hardware, experience replacing internal computer hardware components.
- Experience with remote troubleshooting and hardware repair or replacement.
