Position Summary:
We are seeking a motivated Jr. Staff Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. The ideal candidate will assist with various accounting tasks, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established standards and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accounts Payable (AP):
- Process and enter vendor invoices, ensuring proper coding and approval.
- Perform 2-way and 3-way matching of invoices, purchase orders, and receiving reports.
- Prepare and execute payment runs, including checks, ACH, and wire transfers.
- Reconcile AP sub-ledger to the general ledger monthly.
- Communicate with vendors to resolve discrepancies and answer queries.
- Accounts Receivable (AR):
- Generate and send out invoices to customers.
- Record customer payments accurately, including cash, checks, and ACH transactions.
- Monitor and follow up on outstanding accounts receivable balances.
- Prepare aging reports and assist in collection efforts.
- Bank and Credit Card Reconciliations:
- Reconcile multiple bank accounts and credit card statements monthly.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- General Ledger:
- Assist in the preparation of journal entries and supporting documentation.
- Maintain and update the fixed asset register.
- Help with month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Financial Reporting:
- Assist in preparing financial statements and other management reports.
- Participate in internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and information.
- Compliance and Controls:
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies.
- Assist in the implementation and maintenance of accounting systems and processes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 1-2 years of experience in an accounting role, preferably in accounts payable and/or accounts receivable.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
