Job Description
We are seeking a Part-Time Junior Project Manager who will be based at the Brooklyn Museum. This role requires a proactive, meticulous, and adaptable individual who can manage multiple aspects of civil engineering projects. The Junior Project Manager will facilitate the successful renovation and maintenance projects by coordinating between the DDC, museum staff, and external contractors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Coordination: Serve as the point of contact for project activities at the Brooklyn Museum. Oversee the implementation of the project deliverables, adhering to predefined timelines and specifications.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Actively communicate with all stakeholders, including museum administration, construction teams, city officials, and the public to ensure transparency and timely updates regarding project status.
- Technical Oversight: Apply civil engineering principles to solve construction-related issues. Review technical drawings, proposed changes, and documentation to ensure compliance with the city’s standards and safety regulations.
- Quality Control: Ensure all aspects of the project meet quality standards and contractual requirements. Organize and lead regular site inspections and meetings.
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.
- Professional Experience: At least 10+ year of experience in project management within the construction industry, preferably with exposure to public sector projects.
- Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and project management software (e.g., MS Project, AutoCAD).
- Strong analytical skills with a detail-oriented perspective.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of effectively presenting information and responding to questions from groups of managers, clients, and the general public.
- Certifications: PMP certification is preferred but not required.
- Personal Competencies: Demonstrated ability to manage priorities and workflows. Effective interpersonal skills to facilitate cooperation from a wide range of stakeholders.
Working Conditions:
- Work involves both office duties and on-site project management at the Brooklyn Museum. The candidate should be comfortable working outdoors and be capable of navigating construction sites.
