About the role:
We're hiring a JuniorPayroll Administrator to support our Senior People Operations Partner with a number of projects and the processing of payroll and benefits administration. The Junior Payroll Administrator will work closely with the People team (Human Resources & Talent Acquisition), Financeas well as our HRIS for processing our semi-monthly payroll for our US and Canada employees.
What you will be doing:
- Create and process the company's payroll, including verifying time-cards, calculating wages, and ensuring timely payment to employees
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date payroll records, including new hires, terminations, leaves, and changes in employee information
- Review and reconcile payroll reports to ensure accuracy and resolve any discrepancies and errors
- Ensure payroll registers and schedules are submitted on time for approval
- Maintain Payroll schedule calendars and notifications
- Troubleshoot with US and Canada payroll provider as needed
- Maintain payroll files and provide Finance with reports as needed
- Collate information on the above process, and create an accurate and efficient filing system
- Manage the monthly reconciliation of benefits deductions, 401k and RRSP and the impact of those changes on employees along with the HR team
- Support the month-end and year end closings process by preparing necessary payroll reports and reconciliations
- Understands and follow Federal and State regulations as it pertains to payroll compliance including State and Local tax jurisdiction, Parental Family Leave, and other state and federal mandated programs
- Maintain employee confidence and protecting the payroll operation by keeping information strictly confidential
- Work with the People Team on questions and report requests
- Enroll employees in retirement plans
- Assist employees with payroll related inquiries and resolve any issues in a timely and professional manner
- Support onboarding, I-9 verifications
- Responsible for mail distribution (electronically)
- Participate in payroll-related audits and provide required documentation and explanation if needed
What you need to be great in this role:
- Bachelors Degree (or equivalent) specialized in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or Human Resources
- Experience with Excel (competent with managing, reviewing & analyzing data, ideally you will have experience utilizing VLOOKUP & challenging data) and payroll systems such as Paychex or ADP
- High attention to detail to ensure error free payroll processing
- Strong organization skills and ability to multi-task
- Demonstrable experience within a payroll function
- Basic understanding of payroll taxes and other regulatory requirements
- At the time of this posting, the base salary for this position may range from $60,000 - $65,000. Individual compensation varies based on job related factors, including location, business needs, level of responsibility, experience, and qualifications. The range listed is just one component of OLIVER's total compensation package.
