We are currently seeking a Junior Facilities Maintenance Engineer with great interpersonal skills, some experience related to maintaining a variety of building/property types, and a disciplined attention to detail to join our growing team.
Position Overview:
The Junior Facilities Maintenance Engineer will assist in the maintenance and repair of facilities while at the same time gain hands on training in the field of property management. This will include but is not limited to assisting in performing maintenance and repairs of light electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, flooring, painting, landscaping and janitorial work. The position will report directly to the Chief Building Engineer.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preventive maintenance, and repair of the facilities equipment, including the cleaning and lubrication of boilers, water pumps, air conditioning units, exhaust fans and the cleaning and servicing of cooling towers
- Assist in the repair and replacement of plumbing fixtures including sinks, toilets, faucets.
- Assist the Facilities Engineers as directed by the Chief Building Engineer with special projects including but not limited to HVAC equipment replacement, upgrades to building systems including security equipment, lighting etc.
- Assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of a variety of floor coverings such as carpet, tile, linoleum and wood
- Work with the Facilities Engineers to gain a qualified understand and knowledge on the operation of a variety of mechanical tools and equipment, such as power saws, power sanders, drills, air compressors, sewer augers, and various hand tools as needed to perform carpentry, plumbing, and maintenance work
- Assist in performing grounds maintenance activities, such as plant care, power-washing, sweeping and picking up trash
- Perform snow removal duties as needed and learn the operation of the equipment used in the removal of snow and ice.
- Assist in the maintenance of records and logs as directed by the Chief Building Engineer
- Perform custodial duties, as needed
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities, as directed by the Chief Building Engineer
Requirements
- Basic hands-on experience in duties related to the upkeep of a building/property.
- Basic understanding of the methods of painting, cleaning, landscaping.
- Attention to detail
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to multiple task, without losing focus or attention on any one project; not afraid to ask for help when needed
- Physical requirements: ability to lift, carry and move materials or equipment up to 50 pounds in weight; job duties may also require work over 10 feet in height
- Ability to perform hand snow removal from sidewalks and stairs
- Self-motivated, with “ownership thinking” perspective applied to decision making
- Absolute discreteness in receiving and handling sensitive information
- Ability to work and be reachable evenings, weekends and holidays as part of a rotating emergency contact schedule
- Valid drivers license and insurability under the company’s insurance policy
