Apex Systems is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer, Junior to work hybrid in Fairfax, VA.
Apex Systems is seeking talented professionals to join our successful and growing team in building the next-generation Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation (CDM) Cyber data solution. The CDM Program is the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) dynamic approach to strengthening the cybersecurity of Federal networks and systems through better awareness and visibility into their security posture and cyber threats.

Apex is seeking a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer that can validate initial stakeholder requests, evaluate technologies, and provide feedback and guidance on various aspects of solution design. This role will involve working across teams with the goal of optimizing development, delivery, and operations of our solution. Motivation to explore problems, to find creative solutions and grow existing skillsets is a must. We are seeking dynamic, energetic, and engaging team members who love a challenge! The ideal candidate will be able to align to the following duties:
- Work with a team to deliver robust solutions for complex technical requirements
- Draft documents detailing technical implementations and maintain existing documents to ensure they reflect current implementations
- Evaluate and identify process improvement opportunities
- Execute standard operating procedures (SOPs) to satisfy regular daily operations
- Maintain, update, manage and refine information systems
- Respond to alerts on performance, security, and configuration events
- Support vulnerability evaluation and treatment activities
- Coordinate and/or provide support for applications and operations
- Support functional, interoperability, and security testing events
Required Skills
- Must be a US citizen with ability to obtain Public Trust Suitability
- Bachelors degree or 2 years of experience
- 2 years of experience implementing, securing, and maintaining solutions within Amazon Web Services (GovCloud preferred)
- 2 years of infrastructure experience related to network security
- 2 years of experience refining and executing processes and standard operating procedures
- 2 years of experience monitoring solutions that provide alerts through various mechanisms
- 2 years of experience supporting infrastructure systems in compliance with security standards and policies
- 1 year of experience evaluating security posture and providing solutions to treat security findings
- 1 years of experience managing logging and monitoring solutions with subsequent analysis and reporting
- 1 year of experience supporting Cloud Engineering and Automation (e.g., DevOps/DevSecOps, CI/CD pipeline, Infrastructure as Code)
- Experience producing technical documentation to communicate system designs and technological analysis
Desired Skills
- Prior DHS CISA mission experience
- Experience designing solutions within the Government Cyber Mission Space and legal constraints applicable to civilian Government Agencies (e.g., FISMA, FIPS, SecOps)Experience designing and documenting security controls for System Security Plans and support of FISMA accreditation processes
- Experience defining and implementing solutions including data segmentation and security controls in a multi-tenant environment
- Experience integrating multiple information systems, such as application integration utilizing standard or custom integrations or APIs
- Cloud service cost planning, budgeting, analysis, and cost optimization through implementation of savings plans
- Experience in assessment, evaluation, and documentation of client environment, infrastructure, process, and operations
- Ability to interface with all levels from end users to senior management and contract team members
- Applicable AWS Associate or Professional level certification(s)
