Junior GIS Specialist/Technician - Hybrid - cyberThink, Inc

Job Description:
As a Junior GIS Specialist/Technician, you will assist the Client Planning Data Solutions team in maintaining in-house planning web tools and providing GIS support to transportation planning staff. This role involves collecting, managing, and analyzing geospatial data, supporting GIS-related technical needs, and assisting in data visualization and analysis.
 
Key Responsibilities:

• Collect, manage, and analyze geospatial data from multiple sources to support planning activities.
• Create detailed maps, charts, and reports using GIS software to visualize data effectively.
• Perform geospatial data cleaning, manipulation, and quality control to maintain data accuracy.
• Integrate spatial data with other datasets to provide insights and enhance project outcomes.
• Evaluate tools, web platforms, and data quality, identifying errors and recommending improvements.
• Maintain and update GIS databases, documentation, and metadata for consistency and accuracy.
• Provide GIS-related technical support and training to other departments as needed.
• Research and implement best practices, tools, and technologies for GIS processes.
• Collaborate with developers, designers, and project managers to execute geospatial data solutions.
• Develop workflows and scripts to automate repetitive geospatial data processes.

 
Required Skills, Experiences, Education, and Competencies:

• Proficiency in GIS software such as ArcGIS Pro for data management and map creation.
• Experience with ArcGIS Online for data management, map creation, and app development.
• Basic knowledge of spatial analysis techniques and cartography principles.
• Familiarity with database management tools and formats, including Oracle and PostgreSQL/PostGIS.
• Experience with linear referencing systems in GIS and tabular formats.
• Basic knowledge of automating geospatial processes using Python, Model Builder, or similar techniques.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills in a team environment.

 
Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with Python and SQL, especially in GIS applications.
• Knowledge of additional programming languages, including R, HTML, and JSON.
• Understanding of programming fundamentals and scripting for process automation.
• Web mapping experience, particularly in AWS environments and using Mapbox tools.

 
 
The hourly range for roles of this nature are $30.00 to $40.00/hr. Rates are heavily dependent on skills, experience, location, and industry.
