JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Junior Front-End Web Developer helps maintain and enhance the user experience for the Lakewood English and Spanish family of websites. They translate organizational and user needs into functional, appealing, and interactive web applications. This role involves creating attractive digital environments that ensure an outstanding user experience and ease of use for content editors.
This position reports directly to the Web Content Manager.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION
- Enhance the look and feel of Lakewood websites by modifying style sheets, HTML, and JavaScript files
- Build and code landing pages from provided design concepts
- Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs and propose solutions for designs that may not be technically feasible
- Deliver cross-browser compatible code
- Act as a technical resource for the Web Content Team, assisting with web content updates requiring coding knowledge
- Make minor functional tweaks to support the Web Content Team
- Collaborate with team members and stakeholders
- Navigate various platforms and proactively identify necessary updates
- Handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
- Perform other duties as assigned

This will also include:
- Regular attendance at Church services and classes,
- Serving as a Prayer Partner or as a volunteer in any ministry of the Church, and
- Serving our community through local outreaches from time to time when needed by the Church
QUALIFICATIONS
- Uncompromised commitment to Lakewood Church’s vision, values, and core beliefs
- Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript with experience in React and Next.js a plus
- Excellent teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and expectations
- Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Willingness to learn and stay current with coding trends
- Basic understanding of JavaScript and JavaScript libraries such as jQuery
- Experience with various CMS platforms (Optimizely, Sitecore, and WordPress experience are a plus)
- Basic design knowledge to bridge design and development, improvising mobile or desktop layouts as needed
- Basic knowledge of image authoring tools (familiarity with Photoshop or Sketch is a plus)
- Pro-active, flexible, and positive attitude
- Ability to give and receive constructive critique
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or a related field preferred, or equivalent work experience
- 1–3 years of related experience
