Position Summary
Lane Office, a leading New York based office furniture dealer and interior subcontracting firm is expanding its team and seeks a Junior Designer. The successful candidate will join a fast-paced and dynamic team and work with experienced designers, Project Managers, and the sales team to develop visually appealing and functional workspace designs for our clients. This is an excellent opportunity to grow within the commercial design industry, gain hands-on experience, and contribute to high-profile projects.
To be considered for this position you should have 1 - 2 years relevant experience, understanding of standard industry software and strong communication skills. Desire to work in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment and take ownership of your work are a must.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate internally to develop design concepts that meet client needs and brand aesthetics.
- Create detailed floor plans and layouts, typicals, and 3D renderings using AutoCAD, CET and other design software. You’ll be expected to learn CET pricing as you grow.
- Specify furniture and finishes that align with project requirements, budget, and aesthetics.
- Produce mood boards, image books, and design briefs for client meetings and project pitches.
- Participate in site visits, client meetings, and design reviews to ensure design quality and accuracy.
- Work closely with manufacturers to gather product information, materials samples, and pricing. You’ll be expected to learn ancillary pricing and the corresponding spreadsheet.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field.
- Minimum 1 - 2 years of design experience in commercial furniture.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, CET, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign), and Microsoft Office.
- Basic knowledge of commercial furniture systems and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate, high-quality work.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate within a team setting.
- Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
