Junior Chemical Analyst
Our client who is recognized as one of the worlds largest suppliers of technology, products, and services to the Refining and Petro-chemical industries is looking to add an Analytical Chemist to their New Jersey industrial operation. The candidate would join a team of Analysts that provide support to internal and external clients in Petroleum Analytical Testing and assist with R&D support in our Pilot Plant. This includes executing current analytical testing in addition to developing and implementing new analytical methods.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide analytical expertise and problem solving in support of our Analytical and R&D departments.
2. Utilize existing ASTM Analytical methods to measure critical parameters in various Petroleum derived products.
3. Be able to effectively communicate with people from different functions and disciplines within HTI, LLC
4. Ability to maintain logbooks and data well organized.
5. Problem-Solving skills are very important to achieve expected performance in this position.
6. Basic knowledge of equipment troubleshooting such as calibration issues, gas leaks and thermocouple problems
7. Perform Data or analytical results evaluation is required.
8. This is an industrial /Manufacturing Environment that requires the ability to work safely, participating in safety programs, and utilize PPE as required.
9. Must be able to work in various teams
10. Assist in the continual improvement of an effective Integrated Management System complying with the requirements of ISO 14001:2015
11. Assist in achieving Business Unit, Regional and Global Environmental Management Program goals and objectives.
Qualifications:
- BS in Chemistry or related field with 2 to 4 years of experience in Petroleum testing or related fields.
- Prior experience in Analytical Chemistry and R&D Projects
- Experience with Distillation Procedures, UV-spectroscopy, ICP-OES, Wet Chemistry, Simulated Distillation, Gas-Chromatography, TGA among others.
- Technical proficiency in utilizing Scientific Methodology to solve problems that may arise during routine task performance.
- Additional experience with rheology properties understanding and ion chromatography would be advantageous.
- Ability to manage a broad scope of activities including, but not limited to, conducting experiments, participating effectively in a team environment and managing multiple tasks.
- Ability to effectively interact with customers, peers, plant personnel, R&D and Run-Engineers.
- Effective communication, troubleshooting, networking, and computer skills to extract, evaluate data, and make sound technical decisions.
Compensation:
- $70K-$80K base salary – non exempt status, eligible for OT
- 401K benefits
