Buyer in Training/Junior Buyer
Position Overview
As a Buyer-in-Training (BIT) at Freeman Motor Company, you will be part of the company's buying department. Under the guidance of the Used Car Manager, you will be responsible for evaluating, purchasing, and merchandising vehicles for resale. Success in this role requires a solid understanding of the automotive market, identifying valuable acquisition opportunities, and aligning them with company profit goals.
Main Responsibilities
- Vehicle Appraisal: Accurately assess the condition of vehicles, utilizing appraisal tools and systems.
- Market Analysis: Analyze blue book values, market comparables, and transaction history (wholesale & retail) to assign acquisition prices.
- Customer Negotiations: Deliver high-level customer service and resolve issues during the negotiation process.
- Transaction Management: Complete all purchase-related paperwork with accuracy and efficiency.
- Inventory Merchandising: Assist the photography team in showcasing and uploading newly acquired vehicles to FreemanMotor.com promptly.
- Departmental Collaboration: Support the Used Car Manager and other team members by completing miscellaneous tasks and handling overflow work as needed.
- Adherence to Guidelines: Follow the purchase and merchandising standards outlined in the Buying Department Manual.
- Uphold Company Values: Align with Freeman Motor Company’s mission and goals through professional and customer-centric behavior.
Job Requirements
- Driver's License: Must hold a valid license and have a clean driving record.
- Flexibility: Ability to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written skills with correct grammar usage.
- Technical Skills: Basic proficiency in computer applications and software.
- Critical Thinking & Problem Solving: Ability to analyze and solve problems creatively.
- Adaptability: Willingness to handle interruptions and adapt in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
