The Junior Buyer is responsible for supporting the National Procurement team. They are responsible for assisting the local teams, confirming all orders and scheduling deliveries, ensuring all products arrive in a timely manner and meets quality expectations. The Junior Buyer is the onsite representative for the procurement team.
Detailed Responsibilities
Procurement
- Schedule inbound trucks and track delayed deliveries
- Work with warehouse teams to maintain proper aging inventory levels
- Place timely, accurate orders with Home Chef vendors and/or source product locally
- Work regularly in Google Suite to determine purchase quantities
- Utilize Home Chef ERP system to cut purchase orders and track in-house inventory
- Work cross functionally with quality and production teams daily
- Reduce excess over orders by tracking product starting inventory and cutting orders as needed
- Manage product yields and forecast variability while adjusting product quantities as needed
- Determine average case counts as product arrives and make ordering adjustments as needed
Improve Purchasing Function Accuracy
- Attend and prepare for purchasing KPI meetings
- Work with buyers to determine root cause for shortages/overages and put action plans in place as needed
- Manage Price Discrepancy Log while working with cross functional stakeholders to ensure future accuracy
Onsite Procurement Support
- Act as the onsite representative for the regional procurement team, stepping in to support where necessary
This position requires 15% travel.
Qualifications

- General high school degree, or equivalent, (e.g. GED).
- 1+ years previous experience as a buyer
- Previous experience purchasing food/produce preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with an ERP system preferred
- Strong Experience in excel
- Ability to problem solve and balance priorities in a fast paced environment
