Junior Accountant/AP Specialist
General Summary:
Responsible for the organizing, processing and paying of all invoices incurred by the Organization as well as reconciling General Ledger accounts as directed. Backs up other staff within the Finance Department.
Essential Job Functions*:
Processes Accounts Payable through a computerized system in an accurate and timely fashion.
Assists the Senior Accountant & Reimbursement Specialist with completing various month-end reconciliations.
Communicates and build relationships with vendors and operational leaders of Speare Memorial Hospital.
Communicates with banking institutions to set-up various electronic payment methodologies.
Covers for other Finance related functions, such as cash posting, payroll, or Accounting, when other members of the team are away.
Assists in identifying, proposing, and leading process improvement efforts related to Accounts Payable or other areas of the Finance Department.
Assists in various levels of state and federal reporting.
Regularly self-evaluates their growth relative to personal and professional goals, and communicates such progress and goals with their direct supervisor.
Assists in responding to the organization’s annual financial audit and other duties as assigned.
Maintains and processes the Organization’s 1099 filings each Calendar year.
Complies and updates departmental and hospital policies, procedures, regulations and standards as related to job.
Demonstrates the hospital’s stated mission and values of teamwork, respect and communication with co-workers, patients, families and visitors.
Qualifications:
Education
Required: High school diploma.
Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
Work Experience
Required: 0-3 years of Accounts Payable experience.
Preferred: Above experience in a healthcare-provider setting.
Licensure/Certifications/Registrations
Required: None
Other Skills/Knowledge
Required: Must be detail-oriented and conscientious of importance of timeliness.
Experience in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Excel, etc.)
Experience in working within a team environment.
Able to operate photocopiers, calculators, computers, fax machines, printers, and other administrative office equipment.
Preferred: Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
