About the Job
We are pleased to announce that the Minnesota Supreme Court is seeking a full-time Judicial Executive Assistant to provide executive and legal administrative support to two Justices of the Minnesota Supreme Court. The successful candidate should be comfortable in a professional environment and must be highly organized and detail oriented.
Example of Duties
The following are examples of major job duties expected for this position to perform:
- Type and proofread bench memoranda, correspondence, and opinions.
- Maintain files and track cases with follow-up as needed.
- Coordinate the circulation of case-related materials.
- Maintain the Justice’s calendar and make appropriate arrangements.
- Assist with preparations for court conferences and/or meetings as assigned.
- Open and distribute mail.
- Perform other administrative tasks as assigned.
- Work in a team atmosphere to provide backup for other Judicial Administrative Assistants when needed.
Typical Qualifications
Below are the past experiences that will enable success in the role. For education requirements listed, the equivalent number of years of related experience may serve as a substitute.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduation from accredited high school or equivalent supplemented by a college degree and/or post high school legal/paralegal training.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a legal support position.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office, with knowledge of file conversion to PDF for editing in Adobe Acrobat.
- Must have excellent skills in English grammar, spelling, and punctuation, editing and proofreading.
- Must be detail-oriented and highly organized.
- Must be comfortable scanning and working with electronic documents.
- Ability to communicate with the public as well as court and judicial personnel effectively and respectfully.
- Ability to learn and willingness to work with varying hardware and software programs.
- Resourceful individual with Internet researching skills.
Salary
The expected starting salary range for external candidates is $29.13 – $37.18 per hour ($60,823 - $77,632 annually). The full salary range for this position is $29.13- $45.22 per hour ($60,823 - $94,419 annually). This position is exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is eligible for State of MN employee benefits.
Position Logistics
The position is classified as an Executive Assistant and will work normal business hours, Monday through Friday. Work will be conducted both remotely and in an office setting at the Minnesota Judicial Center in downtown St. Paul, MN.
