J&B Industrial Services' story began in 1985. With our foundry background, we were able to assist and become the "one-stop" shop for tooling, castings, machining and become the managers of the customers' inventory. We have grown J&B's U.S. facility to over 66,000 square feet, dozens of CNC lathes and mills, fully-automated Laser Cutter, CNC Press Brake, fabrication capabilities, full CAD/CAM engineering facilities and JIT stocking program to service a wide range of products and a wide variety of customers and industries.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Under minimal supervision, create 3D and 2D renderings of design ideas, new or existing manufactured components or information. Develop, create and interpret specifications and requirements based on knowledge, research, and analysis of data gathered through numerous methods, to provide accurate and valid documentation to be utilized in the manufacture of reliable parts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (includes the following, however, other duties may apply.)
- Utilize precision measuring instruments and tools (micrometer, caliper, CMM, etc.) to accurately gather data for the development of documented items.
- Produce CAD models and Qualified Prints to represent the desired objectives for specific projects while conferring with the Senior Engineer and/or the Engineering Manager to establish the project details.
- Produce three-dimensional models and qualified prints; developing documentation, detailed instructions and specifications demonstrating proper manufacture, materials, assemblies, testing, etc.
- Verify accuracy and determine proper application of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerances.
- Conduct research and mathematical analysis of collected data to ensure all aspects of a component are feasible, effective and meet the requirements of the original objective.
- Work with Engineers as well as other influential personnel to determine and recommend modifications, specifications or any other deciding factors that may be beneficial to the anticipated part and/or to improve upon an existing component.
- Provide technical assistance to customers to ensure their needs are met.
- Provide technical assistance to our suppliers to ensure they are able to meet the requirements of the prints and specifications.
- Estimate Engineering costs and requirements for quote submission to the Sales Department.
- Develop specific goals and plans to prioritize and organize projects to be completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Assist the Quality department, when necessary, to ensure proper blueprint interpretation and development of part specific inspection processes.
- Assist the Manufacturing Department as needed in the design and development of fixtures, tooling, processes, etc.
- Continually strive and work for improvements for the Engineering Department in knowledge and education, ability and accuracy, speed and creativity.
QUALIFICATIONS
- To perform this job an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Excellent mechanical and conceptual skills.
- Strong, ambitious, motivated team player, with attention to detail and concern of importance. Ability to manage multiple projects with minimum direction.
- Strong time management skills required.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Outlook, Excel, Mathematical and Engineering software.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Postsecondary education in Drafting Design (or equivalent) including Computer Aided Drafting and/or two years' experience utilizing CAD software required, preferably Solidworks.
- Experience in Industrial and Mechanical fields.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Mechanical or Industrial preferred.
- Experience with various metals, alloys and foundry metal castings a plus
