JPD - Project Director, Juvenile Probation and Court Services Dept. - Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois

1. Assist in developing comprehensive project plans, including scope, objectives, deliverables, timelines, and resource allocation. Collaborate with stakeholders to identify project requirements and expectations.
2. Coordinate project tasks, assignments, and responsibilities. Monitor project progress against established timelines and milestones. Identify potential risks, issues, and deviations from the plan, and proactively address them to keep projects on track.
3. Act as a liaison between various departments, external partners, and stakeholders. Maintain clear and open lines of communication to ensure everyone is informed about project status, changes, and updates.
4. Assist in allocating and managing resources effectively to ensure project tasks are completed on schedule. Work with team members to ensure they have the necessary tools and information to fulfill their roles.
5. Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including project charters, status reports, meeting minutes, and other relevant materials. Ensure all project-related information is organized and accessible.
6. Ensure that projects adhere to quality standards and guidelines set by the agency. Conduct regular reviews and quality checks to confirm that project deliverables meet the established criteria.
7. Prepare regular project status reports and updates for management and stakeholders. Highlight key achievements, challenges, and areas requiring attention.
8. Participate in post-project reviews to identify lessons learned and opportunities for improvement. Contribute to the development of best practices and project management methodologies within the agency.
9. Leverage program management experience to provide insights, suggestions, and support for larger initiatives that encompass multiple projects within the agency.
10. Schedule and present project plan and updates to all juvenile justice stakeholders, including judiciary, elected officials, juvenile probation department, assistant state’s attorney’s office, office of the Cook County Public Defender, community organizations, advocacy groups, and others
11. Adhere to new policies, procedures and initiatives.
12. Maintain flexible working hours to adequately observe and support staff in completion of their job duties.
13. Disseminate and actively support new policies, procedures and initiatives.
14. Establish the policies and practices of the Project Management Office
15. Perform other duties as directed by the Director of Probation and Court Services or his designee, provided the directive is reasonably related to operational needs, and of a temporary nature.

1. Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business Administration, Public Administration, Project Management).
2. Two (2) years’ experience in project management or people management
3. Experience with the field of juvenile and/or criminal justice.
4. Demonstrated results of bringing projects to completion
5. Strong academic record or demonstrated understanding of project management concepts.
6. Prior experience (internships, coursework, etc.) in program management or project coordination within a local government agency or related field.
7. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
8. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
9. Proficiency in project management tools and software is a plus.
10. Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to addressing challenges.
11. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
12. Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
