Journeyman Plumber - Malace HR

We are looking for a Journeyman Plumber to join our facility maintenance team in Hamtramck.

TDLR/State/Muni/ License Required

* Paid health care for you and (if applicable) spouse and dependents under 25 yrs.

Candidates must be shift flexible and available to regularly work weekends.

Responsibilities

• Report to and receive assignments, instructions, and directions from supervisors.
• Read and interpret instructions and documentation and plans work activities.
• Move materials and equipment to work locations and set up work sites.
• Assemble, install, and repair pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, and drainage systems in support of plant construction and maintenance activities.
• Repairs or replaces damaged plumbing fixtures such as sinks, toilets, showers, bathtubs, water heaters, electronic flush valves and faucets, and drinking fountains, or connects them to the outlet and inlet pipes by making adjustments in pumps, regulators, and associated piping, threading, bending, or fusion welding pipe either by hand or by use of power equipment, screwing, bolting or fitting gaskets, couplings, traps and valves, and soldering, lead wiping, and/or acetylene cutting and welding connections to seal joints where necessary.
• Provides means of access to route pipe(s) through walls, floors, and other structures as may be required by dismantling or cutting through structural and other physical barriers in order to gain access for repairs or for new installations.
• Protects University property and equipment from damage during assigned work by removing furniture, wall fixtures, and equipment from work sites if possible or covering immoveable items with protective clothes, covering floors with cloths or tarpaulins, and erecting scaffolding or support structures in a manner that prevents damage.
