Job DescriptionThis position is responsible for the electrical repair, preventive, and corrective maintenance tasks on all the equipment and buildings owned, leased, and operated by Seattle Export Grain Elevator. He/she is responsible for performing all assigned duties safely. He/she is responsible for the compliance of all SHE, GMP, and State of Washington rules/regulations at all times.
Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions
- Maintains and repairs operating equipment, including removal, installation, rebuilding and cleaning of all electrical equipment associated with the production process.
- Works with plant operations to accomplish all tasks in a timely and safe manner.
- Notifies Supervisors of any production, maintenance, or safety problems.
- Performs basic instrument replacement and basic electrical work.
- Responsible for troubleshooting and repair of the electrical systems including, but not limited to, variable speed drives, motors and motor control equipment, and related equipment.
- Install conduit, wiring, panels, controls and other electrical components for machines and equipment.
- Install and maintain light fixtures and related equipment.
- Makes the necessary corrections and running adjustments to maintain maximum production and quality.
- Maintains thorough knowledge of all related equipment and attends training classes when available.
- Follows all department procedural policies and participates in team concept approach.
- Completes work orders on all work performed. Enters actual time and any parts or material used on the job.
- Performs preventative maintenance tasks for equipment and facility in accordance with manufacturer's and/or engineering guidelines.
- Perform any additional duties or tasks assigned by management.
Additional Responsibilities
- Keeps work area clean and free from all safety hazards which requires regular bending and occasional lifting.
- Maintains accurate and timely work orders in computerized maintenance system.
- Actively complies with best practices, standard operating procedures and development, maintenance and continuous improvement efforts.
- Actively participates in job-related training as required.
Education/Professional Certifications/Licenses
Basic qualifications:
- Valid Driver’s License
- Washington State Journeyman (01) license
- Ability to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Card)
Experience
Basic qualifications:
- Five (5+) plus years’ experience as journeyman electrician
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with PLC
- Experience in an industrial work environment
- Experience with 480v and 4160v

Condition of Employment
- Upon completion of the ninety (90) day probationary period, this individual shall apply for limited Class B registration with the ILWU (International Longshore and Warehouse Union) Local 19 dispatch hall as a condition of employment.
Working Conditions
- Work area is not climate controlled.
- Work is regularly performed away from the maintenance shop more than half the day.
- Work is regularly performed near moving mechanical parts.
- Open work area shared with other employees.
- Noise level: loud (moving mechanical parts, lawn mower, truck).
Physical Demands
- Ability to use all types of trades-related hand and power tools.
- Ability to stand; walk; sit, talk, and listen.
- Use of hands to grasp, handle, pinch, pick-up, and type.
- Climb, balance and reach with hands and arms.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to climb in overhead structures, to work beneath machines and in close quarters performing analysis and repair work.
- Depth Perception (ability to judge distances)
- Ability to adjust focus.
Compensation Range
Hourly Rate: $47.97 - $49.65 (per collective Bargaining Agreement Wage Table)
