Pay Rate: $52 to $58 per hour
Schedule:
- 12-hour days
- Up to 80 hours per week
- 4 weeks on / 2 weeks off rotation

Overview: We are seeking a skilled and certified Journeyman Electrician to join our client’s team for challenging and rewarding opportunities in Anchorage and the North Slope, Alaska. This position involves working on the construction and maintenance of facilities for the oil and gas industry, focusing on module-based construction and electrical system maintenance. Key tasks include wire terminations, instrument terminations, and electrical system fittings, ensuring adherence to NFPA 70E standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, and control systems, in strict compliance with NFPA 70E regulations.
- Perform electrical installations and maintenance in a module-based construction environment.
- Conduct wire terminations and instrument terminations with precision.
- Ensure all electrical fittings are installed correctly and comply with industry standards.
- Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams, ensuring NFPA 70E guidelines are followed.
- Conduct preventive maintenance tasks to enhance the reliability and longevity of electrical equipment, while ensuring all activities align with safety protocols.
- Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues promptly.
- Collaborate closely with other trades and project stakeholders to coordinate electrical work within project timelines and ensure seamless integration with broader project objectives.
- Uphold stringent safety protocols and regulations to maintain a secure working environment for both yourself and fellow team members, demonstrating a commitment to NFPA 70E standards at all times.
- Maintain accurate records of all work performed, including comprehensive maintenance logs and detailed equipment documentation, in line with NFPA 70E requirements.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Required Qualifications:
- Certified Journeyman Electrician with a valid J Card.
- Journeyman Electrician certification issued by the State of Alaska or equivalent jurisdiction, with a strong understanding of NFPA 70E standards. The State of Alaska has reciprocal agreements for Electrical Journeyman with Arkansas, Colorado, Iowa, and Minnesota.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a Journeyman Electrician in the oil and gas industry, preferably in Arctic or cold climate environments, with a focus on NFPA 70E compliance.
- Proficient in electrical systems installation, troubleshooting, and repair, ensuring strict adherence to NFPA 70E regulations throughout.
- Thorough understanding of electrical codes, regulations, and standards, including NEC and NFPA, with a specific emphasis on NFPA 70E requirements.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and blueprints, ensuring NFPA 70E guidelines are rigorously followed in all installations and repairs.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with other team members, emphasizing NFPA 70E compliance in all project-related communications.
- Physical capability to work in extreme weather conditions and lift heavy equipment/materials as needed, while consistently prioritizing adherence to NFPA 70E safety protocols.
- Willingness to travel to Alaska and ability to pay the transfer fee for the J Card.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
Preferred Qualifications:
- OSHA 10-Hour or 30-Hour General Industry Certification, coupled with specialized training in NFPA 70E standards and practices.
- Hazardous Locations (HAZLOC) certification, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of electrical safety in potentially hazardous environments.
- Extensive experience with electrical systems in hazardous environments, such as Class I, Division 1 areas, ensuring full compliance with NFPA 70E regulations at all times.
- Familiarity with specialized equipment utilized in Arctic construction projects, including winterized electrical systems designed to meet NFPA 70E requirements.
- Additional training or certifications related to electrical safety, first aid, or environmental awareness, with a demonstrated commitment to NFPA 70E compliance in all activities.
Additional Information: This is a rotational position with a schedule that could be 3 weeks on and 3 weeks off, making it ideal for individuals who’d like to spend extended periods of time off enjoying what Alaska has to offer or with loved ones. The role requires working up to 80 hours per week in a demanding environment, making it ideal for individuals who are highly motivated and capable of handling extended work hours.
