About the Job
We are looking for a Jobsite Material Handler to join our team. The primary role of this position is to support field technicians by ensuring they have the materials they need to stay productive, managing deliveries, and keeping the jobsite organized. The ideal candidate is proactive, organized, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Organize Jobsite Areas: Maintain the cleanliness and organization of jobsite overflow areas, ensuring materials are easy to access and properly stored.
- Manage Gas Cylinders: Take full responsibility for dispensing and returning gas cylinders at the jobsite.
- Conduct Site Inspections: Perform regular inspections to ensure safety, compliance, and material availability on-site.
- Material Storage: Oversee jobsite material storage, ensuring proper organization and inventory tracking.
- Material Dispensing: Distribute materials to field personnel as requested, ensuring timely delivery.
- Requisition Process: Understand and follow the requisition and purchase order process to ensure materials are ordered and received efficiently.
- Team Collaboration: Assist field teams and other departments when needed. Tasks may go beyond material handling.
- Forklift Operations: Safely stage and transport materials like steel shapes, strut, and rod using a forklift.
- Off-Site Duties: Occasionally travel off-site to pick up materials or fulfill job-related tasks as needed.
- Customer Service: Respond promptly to customer concerns, ensuring a positive resolution and maintaining strong relationships.
- Team Relationships: Work closely with field, office, and management teams to address challenges and support successful project completion.
Required Skills:
- Organizational Skills: Strong ability to manage time and resources effectively, keeping the jobsite organized and on schedule.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication, able to work with diverse teams and clients.
- Self-Motivation: Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Customer Service Orientation: Strong customer service mindset, focused on building positive working relationships with clients and colleagues.
- Basic Construction Knowledge: Basic understanding of construction materials and documents is preferred.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is a plus.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in material handling, fabrication, or construction is preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Forklift certification is preferred but not required.
- Clean driving record.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs. regularly.
- Frequent physical activity such as stooping, kneeling, and crawling.
- Regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions and noisy environments.
- Ability to work in environments with exposure to mechanical parts, elevated positions, airborne particles, and electrical hazards.
Work Environment:
This position is primarily outdoors, with exposure to varying weather conditions. The employee will work around heavy equipment, mechanical parts, and may be required to work at heights or in loud environments. Safety protocols must be followed at all times.
