OVERVIEW
Responsible for providing case management and employment services to program participants. This includes referrals to external services and other agencies, career development and placement, documenting services, filing, and facilitating ongoing training to newly and previously arrived refugees. Position may from time to time be stressful and require a high demand of performance. May perform other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Conducts client intakes, assesses needs of participants, and provides core services in a timely manner
- Develops plans and strategies with participants to attain self-sufficiency
- Refers participants to mainstream services provided, monitors follow-up
- Monitors and update financial records
- Processes grant reports
- Maintains participant files
- Provides pre-employment orientation to participants
- Develops plans for searching for career opportunities
- Prepares participants for the career interview and placement process
- Provides post-placement services to participnats
- Ensures employment within 180 days of arrival, when possible
- Maintains communication with employers and participants
- Monitors work performance, wages, and benefits of participants
- Documents services, contacts, and follow-up
- Maintains detailed and accurate case notes and logs
- Processes and files associated paperwork and employment forms
- Provides on-going employment training to participants
- Collaborates with staff and volunteers to provide referral and services to participants
- Provides assistance to other Migration and Refugee Services staff with moving furniture for participant move-ins or as otherwise needed
- May drive agency or personal vehicle on company business
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Suitable work experience may be considered as transferable skills in order to meet minimum requirements of the position and will be considered by the Executive Director of Human Resources.
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2 years of experience in migration and refugee services, or social work
- Ability to relate to clients in culturally and linguistically appropriate manner
- Familiarity with needs of refugees, as well as community resources
- Excellent data entry skills (speed and accuracy)
- Proven skills utilizing Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent organizational skills
- Proven strong communication skills - oral and written are clear, concise, and in an organized fashion using appropriate style, grammar, and tone
- Ability to lift 40 pounds
REGULATORY
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Valid driver license, proof of insurance, and 39-month motor vehicle report
- Ability to obtain and maintain Arizona Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card and FBI National Criminal Records History Report (employer paid)
- Pass pre-employment drug screen (incudes marijuana, regardless of recreational use laws) (employer paid)
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate Degree in social services
- Additional years of directly-related experience
- Multilingual
