POSITION SUMMARY
Jordano’s Food Service is committed to ensuring that all working practices adhere to all current food safety legislation through Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) certification. We will manage food safety throughout the food supply chain from the intake of product, handling, storage, and distribution to the arrival of the product at the customer's facilities, considering possible microbiological, chemical, or physical hazards that could occur during the process.
This position assists the Food Safety Department in implementing and managing quality control systems designed to monitor and verify that the company is following and documenting records required in the Food Safety Plan, Food Defense Plan, HACCP, FSMA-204, CDPH, USDA, FDA, Prop 65, and any other governing entities regarding food safety.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the Food Safety department:
- Product recalls.
- Hold tags.
- Q.A. issues.
- Training warehouse personnel on food safety requirements in small groups to ensure they understand company policies and procedures well.
- SDS updates.
- Government Compliance.
- Corrective Actions/Tracking of audits, both internal and 3rd party.
- Track and assist with Buy American program documents for JFS bids & 3rd party vendor certifications.
- Create and maintain a spreadsheet of quality issues – credits issued.
- Track returns if needed for adherence to company policies.
- Verify manufacturer numbers in the system as needed.
- Any additional duties as assigned by the Food Safety Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
- Knowledge of BFC (Warehouse Management System) and Retalix (AS400) and ability to learn within the first 90 days.
- Able to source data and decipher lot codes.
- Excellent organizational skills, oral and written communication, and follow-up.

COMMUNICATIONS AND LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Must communicate effectively and professionally with all departments, including (but not limited to) warehouse, purchasing, customer service, finance, transportation, and inventory control.
- Proficient in English and communicating clearly and effectively in written and oral form.
- This role requires a deep understanding of food safety protocols, excellent attention to detail, and working collaboratively with various departments to maintain the highest food safety standards.
- Critical thinking skills and ability to follow through.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
- Education: AA/AS in food safety preferred.
- Clear understanding of FSMA 204, FTL, and Prop-12.
- Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in Quality Assurance or Regulatory Affairs in food distribution, food service, packing, processing, or growing/farming activities is strongly preferred.
- Experience applying (cGMP) guidelines.
- HACCP certified or able to obtain within the first 90 days of employment.
- Review, document, and follow up on reportable events, adverse reactions, and complaints upon request.
