JOB SUMMARY:
Conduct preventive maintenance, repair, installation, commissioning and general servicing of electrical systems. Participates in planning of programs, policies or objectives for own work group and department.
Responsibilities
- Installs, repairs and maintains motors, transformers, generators, lights, appliances, circuits, wiring and other electrical system equipment and components with electrical codes, standards and regulations for low and high voltage service and equipment.
- Troubleshoot electrical malfunctions. Repair inoperable electrical equipment and circuits.
- Develop and follow preventative maintenance schedule for all electrical machinery equipment and wiring.
- Other duties as assigned as related to start-up, repair and replacement of various electrical systems throughout the County.
- Studies and prepares plans, drawings, specifications and work orders to determine work requirement and sequence of repairs and/or installations.
- Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate County managers.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED. Technical School Training preferred. Knowledge of applicable electrical codes, standards, and regulations.
- Master Electrician Licensed in the State of Texas preferred; Journeyman Electrician or an Electrical Apprentice will be considered.
- 3-5 years of experience.
- Ability to make good, sound decisions.
- Functional computer skills and knowledge of various building components.
- Ability to use a variety of tools and equipment such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment including oscilloscopes, meters, and test lamps.
- Ability to read, draw, and interpret electrical, pneumatic, mechanical, and HVAC schematics, one line diagrams and control sequence of operations.
- Good verbal and written communication skills; good interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees, and elected officials.
SALARY RANGE: $24.72 - $30.91 hourly, based upon qualifications
