The City of College Park is seeking a diligent, responsible individual passionate about technology to join our IT Department.
This role serves as a Systems Engineer and End-User Desktop Support specialist. Key responsibilities include supporting MS Windows and Server OS, Office Suite, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, LAN connectivity, and overseeing desktop deployment, installation, and maintenance. The position is responsible for managing system patching and application updates and maintaining production services. Contributing to strategic planning and technology integration to enhance organizational capabilities.
Some of the day-to-day tasks include:
- Responding to support requests, creating and tracking tickets, and documenting solutions.
- Supporting local and remote staff. New employee onboarding/offboarding, troubleshooting connectivity issues and issues with on-prem and cloud applications.
- Configuring, installing, updating, and troubleshooting desktops, laptops, cellphones, printers, and applications.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in Information Technology.
- Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to provide top-tier support to City staff.
- Experience in administering and maintaining MS Windows operating systems and related software within complex environments.
- Proven skills in managing, monitoring, and ensuring the availability of infrastructure systems and servers.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing hardware, including desktops, laptops, and servers.
- Knowledge of network administration, security, backup, and redundancy strategies.
- Ability to independently support and design infrastructure systems.
- Experience in identifying organizational needs and developing solutions.
- Familiarity with scripting languages and automation techniques.
This is a full-time, exempt position. The hours worked will typically be Monday through Friday, 8:30 A.M. - 5:30 P.M., with occasional extended hours. The starting salary for the position is $73,420-$76,687, depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits, including Maryland State Retirement.
