IT Systems Administrator/Level 3 — Ann Arbor, MI
Introduction: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Systems Administrator to join our IT department. As a Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Windows servers, cloud environments and network systems. You will also be responsible for resolving complex technical issues escalated from Level 1 and Level 2 support teams. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of our IT infrastructure. You will maintain high levels of customer satisfaction by ensuring timely resolution of incidents and requests while adhering to company policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Server Administration: Install, configure, and maintain Windows servers (including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, etc.) to ensure high availability and performance.
- Network Management: Design, implement, and maintain network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs. Monitor network performance and troubleshoot network issues.
- Cloud Management: Manage and enhance our O365 platform and Azure infrastructure, implementing best practices to support scalable growth and secure data management.
- System Security: Implement and maintain security measures to protect systems and data from unauthorized access and cyber threats. Perform regular security audits and updates.
- Backup and Recovery: Develop and implement backup and recovery plans to ensure data integrity and business continuity. Test backups regularly to verify their effectiveness.
- Incident Resolution: Provide expert-level support to diagnose and resolve escalated technical issues related to hardware, software, network, and other IT systems.
- Escalation Management: Serve as a point of escalation for Level 1 and Level 2 support teams, providing guidance and assistance as needed to ensure incidents are resolved within agreed SLAs.
- Problem Management: Conduct root cause analysis and implement permanent resolutions to recurring issues to prevent future incidents.
- Change Management: Participate in the planning and implementation of IT changes, ensuring minimal disruption to services and systems.
- Documentation: Create and maintain accurate and detailed documentation of system configuration, processes, incidents, solutions, and procedures to aid in knowledge sharing and future incident resolution. Keep records of hardware and software inventory.
- Monitoring and Optimization: Monitor system performance and proactively identify areas for improvement. Implement system optimizations and upgrades as needed to enhance efficiency and reliability.
- Training and Mentoring: Provide training and guidance to Level 1 and Level 2 support technicians to enhance their technical skills and knowledge.
- Technical Expertise: Stay updated with industry trends and advancements to provide proactive recommendations for improving IT infrastructure and processes.
- Customer Service: Deliver exceptional customer service and support, communicating effectively with users to understand issues and provide timely updates on incident status and resolution.
Requirements:
- Must not require sponsorship to work in United States now or in the future.
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
- Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE); Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)) preferred.
- Proven experience as a Systems Administrator, Network Administrator, Level 3 Helpdesk support or similar role in a corporate environment.
- Solid understanding of Windows server operating systems (Windows Server 2016/2019/2022), Active Directory, Group Policy, and related technologies.
- Strong administration skills of Office 365 and Azure environments.
- Experience with network protocols and technologies (TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, DNS, DHCP, etc.).
- Knowledge of network security principles and best practices (firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, etc.).
- Familiarity with backup and disaster recovery solutions (Veeam, etc.).
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex issues and implement effective solutions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused approach.
- Experience in incident management tools and IT service management (ITSM) frameworks (e.g., ITIL).
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+; Microsoft
