We are looking for an experienced IT System Quality Engineer Senior to engineer quality assurance throughout our projects lifecycle, ensuring all information system products and services align with organizational standards and user requirements to meet customer expectations.
What Your Day Will Look Like:
- Quality Engineering: Lead quality assurance efforts through the project lifecycle from initiation to closure, including assuring requirements quality, defining project test strategy, test level plans, and oversee the execution results of others to assure value delivery.
- Enable the path forward: Bring together necessary parties and SMES to resolve complex challenges and communicate detailed technical information in simple and understandable terms to all project stakeholders,
- Change Agent: Facilitate the implementation of quality engineering to ensure high standards during the development and implementation of IT solutions.

Minimum Requirements
IT System Quality Engineer, Senior
- BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or equivalent combination of relevant work experience and completed years of college coursework.
- PLUS seven (7) years information systems audit or QA experience.
- Subject matter expertise within one or more business domains or systems and advanced knowledge across related technical areas.
- Direct experience supporting the implementation of quality management systems (QMS) such as ISO 9001 and/or CMMI supporting one or more process areas (PA).
- Appraisal team member for SCAMPI or ISO 9001:2000 for software. ASQ CSQE (Certified Software Quality Engineer), ASQ CQE (Certified Quality Engineer) or equivalent require
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following business processes and domains acquired through accepting increased responsibilities in investor-owned, municipalities, and/or state utilities: Meter-to-cash, Generation-Transmission-Distribution, Energy Management System (EMS) & Advanced Distributed Management System (ADMS), Energy Imbalance Market Realtime trading, Design & Spatial Management, Digital utility (mobility applications, customer self-service portals)
- Hands-on expertise with Microsoft Azure DevOps toolchain.
- Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid projects lifecycles driving quality engineering through all aspects of solution delivery project and products.
- Active participant as a key member of large programs and projects steering committees overseeing and providing recommendations to Sr. Leadership to mitigate quality risk.
- Transformation experience. Definition of current state, gap(s) identification, and change design and implementation to achieve the desired end state in the fields of quality, project management, and/or product management.
- Expert in IT Risk Mitigation practice and implementation
Major Accountabilities
- Facilitates and leads peers in the design, establishment, and adherence to Software/System Quality Assurance (SQA) programs and projects in the development and implementation of IT applications, systems and technology. Acts as advisor to internal IT staff and clients
- Leads risk assessment, defines Quality strategy, test strategy and test planning, testability analysis, and test preparation/execution guidance across a project lifecycle on multiple highly complex projects at a time
- Facilitates the collaboration and alignment of business units and IT through all stages of projects of the highest complexity to ensure business requirements are met. Provides consultation services to mitigate risk and ensure quality utilizing the appropriate rigor across the quality and testing lifecycle
- Seeks opportunities to build reusable assets that can be used to enable or enhance the QED quality assurance initiatives
- Thoroughly evaluates and leads the software/system products quality assurance according to the business standards or function requirements. Isolates, reproduces, and tracks complex defects and verifies fixes
- Establishes, recommends, and facilitates the definition of quality and testing metrics and the associated reporting activities
- Acts as the information resource for others in the assigned areas. Communicates to leadership
- Authors SQA Plan for projects and supports the project manager in the assessment of test efforts, test plans, and test strategy required for software/system product development and maintenance. Incorporates best practices and trends. Understands to perform software/system audits including audit planning, approaches, types, and facilitates timely non-compliance resolution
- Recognizes, identifies, and devises improvements to current standards or potential areas where existing standards require change, or where new ones need to be developed and provide models of change for possible future configurations.
- SME of verification and validation processes, including early software defect detection and removal, inspection, and testing methods (e.g., types, levels, strategies, tools, and documentation). Analyzes test strategies, develops test plans and execution documents, and reviews customer deliverables. Leverages industry best practices for SQA process improvements
- Guides peers and fellow quality Assurance Testers to adhere to defined quality and testing standards and policies and/or to one or more Managed Service Provider (MSPs)
- Coordinates tester training, and the dissemination of APS best practices and testing skills with stakeholders across the organization
- As needed, leads the testing team, monitors progress, and resolves issues spanning outside the quality control efforts
- Facilitates setting objectives for the QED to meet the organization's purpose goals and strategic direction.

Home based: Home based employees primarily work from their home offices and come into an APS facility on an as-needed basis.
*Employees are expected to reside in Arizona (or New Mexico for Four Corners-based employees).
