Overview: The IT Support Technician ensures the installation and the continuity of the operation of the IT equipment and / or telephone equipment (hardware and software) linked to the workstation. At the request of the users, he/she ensures the maintenance (remote or on site) of these equipment and deals with the incidents.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED required; Pursuing an Associate s or Bachelor s Degree in Computer Science, IS/IT or equivalent preferred.
Preferred certifications: ITIL V3, CompTIA+, Cisco Networking
- Entry level experience working in IT capacity required.
- Experience with Microsoft Windows workstation W10.
- Experience with Desktop PC's, laptops and servers
- Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory Users and Computers, Group Policies, File/Print shares, SCCM, Nexthink
- Knowledge of networking concepts (TCP, UDP, Routing, Firewall, Proxy, ADSL).
- Knowledge of current desktop security methodologies (encryption, antivirus, desktop security)
- Experience with Office 2016
- Must have customer service skills and autonomy for completing work
- Ability to diligently follow processes and procedures, ability to author procedures
- Quick adaptation to new contexts / ability to learn quickly on technical environments
- Ability to exchange with remote stakeholders in an international context
- Strong communication abilities; critical thinking skills; self-starter
- Proficiency in a circuit simulation program such as pSpice
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for identifying any undocumented procedures and to recover them based on incidents / requests occurrences.
- Performs on-site IT support activities.
- During the run phase (installation, tests and acceptance test), perform the following tasks:
- Performs the initial installation of computer and / or telephone equipment s (applications, PC equipment, telephony equipment s and peripherals);
- Installs the updates;
- Distributes applications according to a deployment plan;
- Performs user tests and acceptance tests of computer and / or telephone equipment.
- As part of operations, the support technician performs the following tasks:
- Diagnoses and deals with incidents on computers, networks, messaging or telephony;
- Manages the operation by incidents;
- Manages the computing equipment connected to the network, the repository of assets and the inventory
- Perform movements.
- As part of maintenance, administration and security, the support technician performs the following tasks:
- Follows the changes on the equipment;
- Administers messaging services on the client side of the workstation (connection, operation);
- Performs the distribution data (targets, profiles, dependencies ...) and remote maintenance;
- Checks the conformity of the equipment s with the repositories and takes the necessary measures to bring it to conformity level expected
- As part of support, the support technician performs the following tasks:
- Helps for efficient handling of equipment s and software installed.
- As part of incident process or datacenter interventions (temporary till outsourcer in charge of datacenter proximity services), the support technician may be asked by other centers of services to perform operations in computer rooms or datacenters to ensure proximity operations:
- Reboot of equipment,
- Diagnostics and analysis of the existing,
- Visual checks of the rooms, the equipment s,
- Management of services requests, such as deployment of new equipment s,
- Maintenance operations (server hardware) and relocations,
- Support when external personnel in the datacenter during the deployment of equipment s,
- Adheres to safe work practices and contributes to the evolution of the health, safety, and environmental program and culture;
- Travel requirements: Occasional travel (general guideline; two (2) times per year within the U.S./Outside the U.S.
- Other duties may be assigned.
- Evening/night hours may be required.
- Extra hours may be required during business peaks
- Regular, predictable attendance is required.
- Physical Demands: May require long periods of sitting. May require lifting < 20lbs. May require prolonged and repetitive use of upper extremities. Typical office environment requiring the use of typical office equipment (i.e. computers, phones, etc.) Computer keyboarding, computer monitor and mouse use including reaching forward, grasping, finger and wrist manipulation and neck bending and turning; near vision is necessary for computer monitor use.
